Landskrona Citadel or Landskrona Castle is a fortress in Landskrona, Skåne County.
The citadel is one of the Nordic region's best-preserved water fortresses from the 16th century with a well-preserved moat system. It has also been a prison. Here is both an old dungeon and a prison tower.
The Danish king Christian III decided in 1549 to build a fortress in Landskrona. It was built over a period of just over 10 years as a square castle with four towers and a surrounding moat.
After Landskrona became Swedish, the fortress was strengthened very strongly and in 1667-75 the external defense system was built with the large bastioned earth walls.
Beautiful. Looking up at steeple inside the small chapel at Thanks-giving Square, downtown Dallas, Texas
This small multi/all denominational chapel holds so much....
- Peacefulness -
One reviewer said she Google peaceful places, and this was one of the returns
- Record display of stained glass -
Largest display of horizontal stained glass in the world.
- Place for all to give thanks -
"Thanks-Giving Square is a great place to slow down, and appreciate the good things in your life. It's religious ambiguity is a deliberate attempt by the founders to avoid any one affiliation. The square is meant to be a place for anyone, regardless of belief, to come and take a moment to give thanks for the blessings of our lives. The chapel is small, but absolutely breathtaking when you step inside. You may leave a note in the bowl on the alter giving thanks, or take a moment to pray or meditate. The Thanks-Giving Foundation encourages you to lay on the floor, and look upwards. You will see a spiral of 73 stained-glass panels that make up the Glory Window. As the brochure explains, it is the largest display of horizontal stained glass in the world. The Foundation's web-site further describes that in the year 2000, the United Nations declared it the year of International Thanksgiving. The Glory Window appeared on the UN Stamp."

CSXT SD80MAC #800 has just been started and is being inspected by it's engineer at Benning yard in Washington DC. The 800 was named "The Spirit Of Benning" at the time. In another year it would be renumbered to 4590 to make room for new GE ES44AC locomotives that were arriving numbered from 700 and up (they reached #999 before jumping into the 3000s). For some reason the 800 always seemed to be quite a smokey critter upon start up.

An empty Dyersville Big River ethanol train pulls out of the siding at Dyersville after meeting 338. The crew is only 2 miles from the train's destination. They cross the North Fork of the Maquoketa River with the beautiful Basilica of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in the foreground. The cornerstone of the church was laid on June 3, 1888, and was done and dedicated on December 3, 1889. The place was hoping as many are gathering for Sunday mass on this cold winter day.
This is an Abstract of an object in my studio.
I find the photo captivating and thought provoking.
I hope you do as well.

The Sunset Limit has just crossed the Mississippi River outside of New Orleans. The train is only 35" into their 1995 mile trip from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The Mississippi River bridge, called the Huey P. Long Bridge, was built in 1935 and sits 152 feet above the water. Highway 90 also crosses the river with the railroad between lanes. The highway bridge is 8,076 feet long, while the railroad bridge is a whooping 22,996 feet (4.3 miles) long. The bridge was named for the late Governor Huey P. Long, who was assassinated on September 8 , 1935.

Zeascape - Dusk descends upon 'The Blocks', the iconic and quirky breakwater on the outer sea wall at St Monans zig zagging its way out into the Firth of Forth immersed in the colours of dusk.

The Zollern colliery in Dortmund is one of the most beautiful testimonies to Germany's industrial past. An icon of industrial culture made of steel and glass is the machine hall with the stained-glass Art Nouveau portal. Discover the "Palace of Labor", look behind the magnificent brick facades, climb the headframe, follow the coal path and immerse yourself in a world of hard work underground.

I have been away from Flickr for about 5 years now. Hard to believe it's been five years. So sorry to have "disappeared" off Flickr. So many of you reached out to me on Flickrmail and I sincerely apologize that I have not been able to send a reply to each person who wrote to me. I don't wish to go into details but suffice it to say that I was very tied up with work and personal matters. Over the last 5 years, photography took a back seat although I did shoot occasionally. I only had pockets of time to process my photographs sporadically and obviously did not have time to post on Flickr. I'm now back on Flickr.
