This was one of the holdouts from the Nickel Plate Road era. It's long gone now, and we miss it.

Yet another photo from me of West Burton Falls in the Yorkshire Dales. I can't resist this place, it has so many qualities, from raw power of the water to the beauty of its setting amidst autumnal colour.

Got myself a new toy, a 10 stop ND filter. So thought I'll got out and experiment to see what I can get out of it. This is my first attempt. Quite pleased with it, it has given me some ideas.

Coming down on the west side of downtown, Marquette Rail's Z151 works its way toward Wyoming Yard with their interchange train for CSX.

Anita and I went riding yesterday, which was the first time since early November! We headed to West Virginia and we found SNOW!!! And a few roads we had never been on before and this was one of them. It ran right alongside the Cacapon River which I later found out was an American Heritage River. A wonderful day and happy to be on the road again! :)

On a gorgeous April evening, my drone was perched high above Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho as a BNSF oil train cruises westbound in the beautiful light. The hilarity of going all the way to Idaho and getting an NS unit on a train wasn't lost on me, but at least it was an EMD so all was forgiven. This bridge is one of the last pinch-points on the northern trans-con, and work was just beginning on the pilings for the second track through here, which will negate the need for the dispatcher to coordinate meets. While we had a whole trip in front of us, I could've easily sat here and watched trains for another few days. Spectacular country.

The highlight of the day this past Sunday was seeing the Eagles in West Virginia. We saw a total of four, two mature and two juveniles. This of course would be a juvenile. I was wishing I had left my Tamron 18-400 on the camera!

Haymarket Station, West End, Edinburgh.

I’ve been to the poppies at West Pentire for several years now and was thinking I might give them a miss this year, but couldn’t resist in the end! Last Tuesday I left home in beautiful conditions but as we approached Newquay there was sea fog surrounding the coast… at first I was disappointed but I actually like how some of the images turned out, and had a nice chat to the Penwith Camera Club.

A very distant landscape of the scene from West Shore Beach in Napier. A sunny but hazy day making the bluffs very indistinct, and I thought I would try a little LE work to smooth things out....

West Burton Falls or Cauldron Falls as it is locally known is a fantastic waterfall on Walden Beck in the village of West Burton, Bishopdale.

A scenic spot along the West Okement river, part of a lovely circular hike in north Dartmoor. The only issue here was the crazy amount of midges eating us alive while we tried to enjoy the view and take some photos! Made me feel like sitting in the Scottish Highlands!!

In my 'energetic' driving to head off the loco on the Mallaig road my 35mm lens ended up on the car floor so , thinking it was damaged I had only my stnd 50mm lens for this shot at west Loch Eilt..

Scottish West Coast. The wind, the air, the sound of water, and of the seabirds. All those things are still present, like an ocean inside of me. The sea, it's my happy place 💙

Far west - Sunset at Neist Point, looking out across the Minch.

The narrow, rocky finger that is home to Neist Point lighthouse, is the furthest west you can travel in mainland UK without having to board a ferry. A location that’s hard to beat as one of the best places in the UK to witness sunset, especially so when decent conditions prevail as I was lucky enough to experience.
