St Andrew's Church in Winterborne Tomson, Dorset, England, was built in the 12th century. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It was declared redundant on 1 June 1972, and was vested in the Trust on 26 March 1974.
The small flint and stone Norman Anglican Church of St Andrew has an apse at the east end and a barrel vault roof which curves around it. The roof was replaced and windows inserted in the 16th century. The oak door is heavily studded. The interior has limewashed walls, a 15th-century font and flag stone floor, along with early 18th-century oak fittings. The eighteenth century oak pews, the pulpit, screen, communion rails and matching table with barley sugar turned legs, and other woodwork were provided by William Wake, Archbishop of Canterbury, who had been raised in the village of Shapwick and whose family lived locally. The west end has a late medieval gallery with a panelled front which was probably originally a rood screen. The roof is topped by a small weatherboard belfry which resembles a dovecote.
By the early 20th century, the church had fallen into disrepair and was being used as an animal shelter by a local farmer. Repairs were paid for by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings who sold a collection of Thomas Hardy’s manuscripts to raise the funding. The work was supervised by A. R. Powys who also oversaw the work at the Old St Cuthbert's Church, Oborne
The vista from my back porch. Quinlan, Comobabi mountains and the Coyotoe Mountain Wilderness. The Altar Valley, Southwest of Tucson, Arizona. No crop.
This was the end of the trail for us. If I'm not mistaken, the trail went on for another mile or two.
Some hidden waterfalls along the West Okement river. From Black-a-Tor Copse we followed the river downstream towards Meldon Reservoir. There are countless beauty spots along the way. For this photo I scrambled down to reach a large granite boulder sitting in the middle of the stream. You can actually see my 4y old peeking down from above in the top left corner ;-)

Up in the New River Gorge in southern West Virginia, Fayette County you may find the Babcock State Park and therein the Glade Creek Grist Mill,
The mill is a recreation made with parts of several mills that once dotted the state, If you have a chance, go and visit it, what a wonderful moment I enjoyed in a late afternoon, resting in the rocks at the river edge, caught by the serenity of the moment and the timeless scene, with the mill caressing the river with its turning wheel.

This isn't the first time I've photographed this wall and window at the Heritage Farm area of the botanic gardens, but it is the first that I've caught it being illuminated from the west.
For Window Wednesdays.
Liked the late day light and sun filtering through the low clouds / fog there along the farthest eastern most point in the USA.

At Brighton Beach
Designed by Eugenius Birch and opened in 1866, it was the first pier in Britain to be a listed building in 1969.
It was closed to the public in 1975 after general attempts to maintain its integrity failed. A fire, a storm and generally poor maintenance resulted in what you see here.
With their climb up Newburg Grade almost complete, C78412 passes the abandoned WS Tower at West End. Just a few hundred feet ahead is the summit of the grade and Kingwood Tunnel.
A very windy day indeed at West Wittering but the great clouds made up for it.

A view of one of the groynes at West WIttering beach before the mass invasion of beachgoers really got going. We got there at about 8.15am and the car park was already getting full which shows how popular the place is.

Holidays in Scotland in winter always stir the imagination that there will be a decent amount of snow about and the already startling landscape will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The added bonus is that whatever the snow situation there are such a wide range of stunning places, and Gruinard beach is a wonderful spot on a sunny day!! Cold day in the sun by Foo Fighters is perfect , but it's not as cold as last time we visited, when I paddled through sheets of ice!
