In light of the current COVID-19 situation, we want to ensure that Wellspring is doing all that we can to respond wisely and calmly in a way that shows care and compassion for all. Our three key priorities are: Caring for our staff and team, and doing all we can to ensure their well-being; Caring for our wider family of partners and communities in North America and Rwanda. This includes caring for you; Ensuring that our operations can be maintained in both continents, and that we care for the people we are privileged to serve. Here in Canada, as part of our duty of care to our staff and supporters, we will be cancelling all events planned over the next two months and monitoring response to those events planned beyond this timeframe. This includes our Vancouver Gala, our Lake2Lake Info Nights, gatherings elsewhere in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, and all international trips. In Rwanda, we deal with very vulnerable communities, and want to offer our ongoing support to those we serve—both at the school level (as schools are often a focal point for community care, food programs, and overall social cohesion), and by playing our part in Rwanda’s wider response to the crisis. In order to do this, we want to ensure that we can continue operating in Canada and the US by raising the resources our team in Rwanda needs. Like many other organizations in these challenging times, we face a potentially significant financial loss that, if not addressed, will in turn have a drastic impact on our operations with these vulnerable communities in Rwanda. We are contingency planning around this and will be staying in touch with you in the days and weeks ahead. For now, we ask you to stick with us as we continue our crucial work of seeing education transformed for children across Rwanda. As we come to you in the midst of this challenging time, it is also our privilege to be there for you. If you have any prayer requests, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are in this together. Peace and grace, The Wellspring Team
