Do you have any idea how stoked I am on how amazingly linear the color reproduction is here, and without herculean effort? I mean, it's a digital file created on an "uncalibrated" monitor, pushed through a ICC profile, printed on canvas, then lit by a light, photographed with a digital camera, pushed through more software in Lightroom, back out to a JPEG and then viewed on a different monitor. And the damn original file looks nearly the same as the photograph of the canvas print. By rights it should not work, something ought to get hosed along the way, right? But no, it totally works. Ain't computers grand?
But the thing is, to get from this level of git 'r done linearity to full bore Dead Nuts, it takes thousands of dollars and much frustration and hair pulling. I hate to sound like McDonalds makes the best hamburger in the world, but damn, it's hard to complain even with the 3/4 ass approach. And Dead Nuts is a moving target, you're always screwing yourself. You can't control the display environment. That's why public exhibition is the only way to ensure total control.

Today, we come to our final component of a vibrant and safe classroom! Last but not least, we have: Students, of course! 👧👦 Students bring the classroom to life, as they fill the space with questions, discovery, and growth! When they are in class, they have a better chance of unlocking opportunity and releasing the potential within them, as they build both their knowledge and their character. And when students miss out on education to work in the fields or to take care of the home, their future is compromised. That’s why we fight against dropout and work to ensure that students are in the classroom—learning with their friends, diving into lessons, and being empowered by their teachers and parents. Students are an essential and integral component of a vibrant classroom. That’s why we invest in them day after day! #qualityeducation #rwanda #teachers #school #children #students #leaders #education #learning #community #communitydevelopment #ABCD #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #goal4

This week, we outlined the components of a vibrant and safe classroom, to learn what quality education looks like in practice! And to recap, our classroom consisted of: 👩🏫 An encouraging teacher ❤️ A safe classroom environment 👨👩 Excited and invested parents 📖 Engaging lessons 👧👦 Students, of course! 👧👦 We hope you were inspired and encouraged this week as we built a classroom made of all the essentials for the best learning experience! This is exactly what we want every Wellspring classroom to look like. When classes are safe and vibrant, students are able to access the #qualityeducation they deserve! They are given the space and opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive while being loved, cared for, and encouraged! That’s why we work to ensure that more students in Rwanda access education, and are in classrooms just like the one we built! And while dropout can keep children away from the classroom, we fight against what is stealing children from their right to education. Only with your support can we ensure that more children gain the education they deserve! Support education for every child at wellspring.ngo/give

The Wellspring (Dov Rosenblatt and Talia Osteen) performing live at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood CA on October 21st, 2012. Part of Gary Calamar's "Mimosa Music" series. The Wellspring's special guest was Kyler England, pictured here with the band.
For me, music is very important to the design process. Amid the hustle and laughter of humans, bleating and braying of livestock, and the ever-present drone of tractors at the 4-H Fair, the soft, tranquil music that I was playing in my booth enabled me to find a place of peace from which to create this new design on a piece of paper. Ten minutes later I was putting it on Pat, who could not wait to display it.
