Taking a rest on the fence while its friends flew all around us.
We are about to have 10 six year olds descend upon us for Sarah's party so it might be a while before I catch up with your posts.
This is the same bridge of Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden I photographed before but viewed from above.
This is the first thing you see when you arrive the that place. So welcoming, isn't it.

Couldn't zoom out fast enough for this but barely got her shadow in. Might work better with a bit more cropped from the top, but I'll let this simmer for a while.

Another place on the island Hvar, the village Vrboska :)
Vrboska is a settlement on the north coast of the island of Hvar, in the Municipality of Jelsa, in a deep narrow bay surrounded by pine forest, vineyards, and olive groves. Founded in the 15th century as a fishing harbour and growing in prosperity during next centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, Vrboska had a sardine factory, wooden boat-building industry, a hotel, fishing trade association, and regular boat connections with Split and the neighbouring island of Brač. There was a community hall, library and health clinic. Vrboska has also a little island in the middle of the bay connected with bridges, and therefore it is sometimes named "Little Venice".

After a long drought—some 54 days or so.

Went for a nice New Years Day walk. Great start to the year, then it rained for the last 3/4 of the hike.

WELCOME AUTUMN...
Mushrooms are often associated with Autumn, but when the weather is 'damp' I see them all year round in nature.
CHESTNUT MUSHROOMS...
The chestnut or cremini mushroom is closely related to the white mushroom and is similar in size and shape. The difference is its brown colour and nutty flavour. In addition, chestnut mushrooms have a lower water content, so they shrink less when cooked. The taste of the chestnut mushrooms is intense, strong and highly flavoured and their texture is similar to meat. The chestnut mushrooms are available all year long and they can also be refrigerated for longer periods of time.
Edible mushrooms.
They are the fleshy and edible fruit bodies of several species of macrofungi (fungi which bear fruiting structures that are large enough to be seen with the naked eye).
They can appear either below ground (hypogeous) or above ground (epigeous) where they may be picked by hand.
Whatever, they enhance many a dish and we love them!
With love to you and thank you for the good wishes, M, (* _ *)

In North America, Barn Swallows are spring time arrivals from their South American winter. Although their flight acrobatics are extraordinary, their colours and markings are equally noteworthy. From Cornell: "The Barn Swallow is the most abundant and widely distributed swallow species in the world. It breeds throughout the Northern Hemisphere and winters in much of the Southern Hemisphere." www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Barn_Swallow/overview
Just back from Texas. Had a nice visit with family and friends. These two Great White Egrets were taken at the Smith Oaks Rockery in High Island Texas. I love how every time the male comes back to the nest they greet each other.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone. Hope you had a wonderful week.
