Summer 2018, a completely different time, a completely different world - pre-pandemic, pre-everything.

Here are three fishing boats anchored in a port in Tkon, Croatia, in August 2018. The rain stopped not that long ago, the sky was still cloudy.

Taken with Pentax 645 medium format film camera, and smc Pentax‍-‍A 645 75mm F2.8 lens, on Ilford Delta 100 film.

Developed in Adox FX‍-‍39 II, 1‍+‍9 dilution, for 9‍:‍30 min at 20‍.‍5‍°‍C.

Scanned with Canon CanoScan 8800F flatbed scanner, using VueScan.

Somehow, the film backing paper texture transferred to the film, that's the "texture" I tried to minimize, but couldn't remove entirely.

It's like a tribute to those severed hand horror movies that kept me enthralled as a kid, such as "The Beast With Five Fingers", "The Crawling Hand" or the glorious earlier versions on that particular theme, "The Hands of Orlac" and "Mad Love". But this is the work of street-artist Frodrik (@frodrik), with his signature monochrome hands that can be found spread across Glasgow.

It's a little like a serial killer in Taggart badly disposing of their victims' limbs hunting them down. I recently featured a pair on the corner of Minard Road and Pollokshaws Road in my locale of the South Side of the city - but this lone, almost eerily more horror severed single hand, can be found in the heart of the city, at the top of Sauchiehall St.

After a year and a half, I finally crossed the international border - I went to visit my friend Goran D in Bihać, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Once there, we went to the abandoned, underground Željava Air Base, specifically, to Runway 32L, the one on the Bosnian side.

Željava Air Base is quite an interesting location, I hope to visit it again soon. Read more about the base on Wikipedia.

Here, a few photos taken on a film, an airstrip and an abandoned checkpoint.

So, I bought a Bronica SQ-A during lockdown and finally had the opportunity to test it out a few days ago. A very enjoyable camera to use and I love the 40mm lense. I also like that I don't have to pre-visualize a square crop, as I do with my digital camera. However, there's a problem. Both of the film backs have light leaks. Have ordered some self-adhesive foam etc. to fix it, but it's out of action for the time being. Very annoying though, as I think I lost some good photos.

Interestingly, the first few shots I took with it didn't have visible leaks, but I think I shot those when it was overcast.

Also, got to tidy up my film development process, as the negatives were a bit on the dirty side :-/

After 300+ years it finally succumbed to old age and a storm and was cut down and totally removed. I hope at least it's fine wood got turned into something useful.

I recently revived an old beaten Contax 137MD Quartz which id purchased off eBay for very little.

After replacing the light seals and refurbishing the body, I ran a roll of 2006 Expired Kodak BW400CN C41 process B&W film through it.

Seemingly I had a few issues through development - some dark patches on some images and a few odd light leaks not camera related, however the remaining images came out pretty good!
