More film scanning.

I did a lot of spot healing on this one, to the point that Exposure was chugging along quite slowly. My darkroom seems to be dusty and dirty, so my negs are too. My scanner also highlights every speck of dust, so again, a pain. Then again, I find spot healing somewhat cathartic.

Usually, I'm not a fan of novelty films, all those pre-exposed effect films I find more or less unusable. I'm not a huge fan of special, coloured films, either. But, this LomoChrome Purple, I find it quite likeable. This roll was shot at 200 ASA, with a lot of sunshine, I'll have to buy a few more rolls, I have to try shooting it a stop over/under to see how it behaves.

Here, a small, roadside chapel in the middle of a crossroad. June 2021.

I've shot this chapel with another LomoChrome film, the Turquoise one, check it out 📷 here.

Dal Lake, Srinagar, the summer capital in Kashmir, North India.

Dal Lake is a scenic lake located in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning natural beauty and serene atmosphere. The lake is surrounded by lush green hills and Mughal-era gardens, and is dotted with traditional houseboats, called "shikaras," which are used for transportation and leisure activities.

One of the most famous attractions at Dal Lake is the Floating Vegetable Market, where locals sell fresh produce from their boats in the early morning hours. Visitors can take a shikara ride through the market and enjoy the vibrant colors and sounds of the bustling market.

Another popular activity at Dal Lake is a visit to the Mughal-era gardens that surround the lake, including the Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi gardens. These gardens are known for their stunning fountains, terraces, and flower beds, and offer a peaceful retreat from the busy city.

Overall, Dal Lake is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Srinagar, offering a unique and tranquil experience of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

It was such a beautiful sunset that day, amazing light! I guess I should've taken color film with me as it's hard to appreciate the conditions as I experienced them in this photo. Nevertheless, I like it!

Thanks to rain and heavy wind gusts, I had to work quickly, a bit haphazardly and slightly messed up the exposure, the shadows turned out quite thin. However, at least everything is tack sharp front to back, not to be taken for granted with the heavy wind present then! Also, I wish I had my 75mm lens available then, I think the small gain in angle might have worked wonders here.

On this day I went to Covão D'Ametade to try and capture the autumn colours. I placed myself under a tree to capture the leaves in a good light.

Then this family kept entering my viewfinder, the "holy trinity*": father, mother and son. Number four was on the way, for the lady was (very) clearly expecting.

I din't quite get what they were doing for they had brought along a professional or "high ama" -- as the Japanese say -- high (level) amateur photographer, and they were staging scene after scene. Was it some kind of celebration? Don't know, I didn't quite get it.

Anyway, you know the saying: If you can't beat them, join them, and so I did. I briefly joined the shooting session and then opted for vertical framing to keep them out of my viewfinder.

* "Triad", an ensemble of three entities, is the correct word here, but I thought that suggestions of criminal activity were best avoided.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (another more popular name is the Church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa at the Market) is a temple ensemble in the town of Staritsa, built in 1740–1825. and combining the motifs of late classicism and baroque.

Temple history

The temple has a long and complicated history, and there are many inaccuracies in its sources about its construction.

The first mention of the temple of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa dates back to 1668:

The complex of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, better known as the Church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, who was considered the patroness of trade, is located on the left bank of the Volga River near the ancient old settlement. Once it was located on the Staritsa Torgovaya Square and, together with the many shopping arcades of the Gostiny Dvor, echoed the ensemble of the Assumption Monastery, located on the other side of the Volga. The townspeople often call the complex a nunnery. However, this is not a monastery, this is a magnificent ensemble of the temple, built in the XVIII-XIX centuries. And even today, despite the deplorable state, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin is one of the sights and visiting cards of the city.

In the background, on a hill - the Ensemble of the Cathedral of Boris and Gleb and the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands.

The church ensemble is located in the town of Staritsa, Tver Region, on the Old Settlement opposite the Holy Assumption Monastery, located on the opposite bank of the Volga River.

This place was chosen a very long time ago, the first stone church (Michael the Archangel) dates back to 1390.

Then, during the reign of Ivan the Terrible and the heyday of Staritsa, the fortress was rebuilt here and the Borisoglebsky Cathedral was laid.

However, in 1609, during the destruction of Staritsa by the Poles, the cathedral was badly damaged and was almost completely ruined.

New places of worship were erected relatively recently: in 1807 - the Cathedral of Boris and Gleb and in 1827 - the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands and the bell tower.

During the Great Patriotic War, the temples were badly damaged, then they were used for household needs. The cathedral was opened after restoration in January 2019.

Beautiful panoramic views of the Holy Dormition Monastery.

Farmers in Myanmar make up a significant portion of the population, relying primarily on rice cultivation, along with crops like beans, pulses, and oilseeds, often using traditional farming methods. However, they face challenges such as unpredictable monsoons, political instability, and limited access to modern agricultural technology, which impact productivity and livelihoods.

This photograph captures a moment of quiet serenity on a sun-drenched beach, but there’s a subtle tension that makes the scene compelling. Taken with the **Horizon S3 Pro**, the camera’s sweeping panoramic frame allowed me to embrace the vast expanse of sky and sea while carefully balancing the human elements. Shooting on **Argenti Low-Speed** film, I was drawn to the way the low sensitivity rendered a fine, almost dreamy grain structure—enough texture to feel alive but delicate enough to let the light breathe.

The composition came together almost serendipitously. The figure standing at the water’s edge serves as a solitary focal point, grounded yet disconnected, as if lost in their own thoughts. Meanwhile, the sunbather under the umbrella introduces a lighthearted counterbalance, their relaxed pose and outstretched arm lending the scene a candid, almost playful quality. The oversized umbrella dominates the lower right third, offering an anchor that pulls the eye back after wandering through the airy, open sky. I particularly love how the distant sailboats on the horizon add depth and structure, small yet significant details that fill the frame without overwhelming it.

For me, this image is all about contrasts—the expanse of emptiness against the anchored figures, the scorching sun implied through the high tones, and the stillness of the moment against the gentle motion of the sea. It’s a quiet kind of storytelling, one where the viewer is invited to fill in the gaps and linger a little longer. This is one of those shots where the equipment, film, and timing all clicked into place, creating something simple yet quietly cinematic.
