The completed piece for the visual component of week 2 on animals. Interestingly, it sort of combines aspects of week one (plant life) with week two (animal life).
Haikugraphy by Shahjahan Siraj. The photographs have been included in the book of Haikus where you will get 130 English and Bengali Haikus with the visual expression of Tao and Zen philosophies. The photographs have been taken in the nature of Japan and Bangladesh.

Insignificant Speck
Use me up
Then cast me down
Like a pebble crude upon a beach.
I'll take the ebb and flow of guilt and cleansing,
Letting them erode me to reveal something purer
Hidden beneath the waves.
And even though you cannot see me
You'll tread on me often enough,
Not realising how perfect an object of your perfection
I have become.
But in becoming I undo myself
And watch the stitches fall,
Just as you,
Upon a beach at sunset
Forget,
That without the pebbles you will sink into the sand.
And like me, despite your own attraction,
Easily overlooked and quickly forgotten
When the sun casts its coffin,
Rolls its lot,
And heads for the West.
Entre las convocatorias de los Premios Nacionales de Cultura de la Universidad de Antioquia del presente año, se incluía la 43° Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales, cuyos resultados veremos expuestos en el Museo Universitario de la Universidad de Antioquia a partir del próximo 13 de octubre. Kaiuaido es el nombre que lleva esta convocatoria, este es un vocablo Minika que por su significado se identifica perfectamente con las intenciones, pues tras esta expresión, hay una afirmación universal que reconoce el territorio como vínculo con la memoria, la historia y el patrimonio de los pueblos.
Esta edición del Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales se propone abordar la noción de las lenguas y culturas nativas, y la conexión con la tierra y la tradición de los diferentes pueblos que habitan en Colombia. Se aprovecha el arte contemporáneo como ese espacio en el que estas culturas adquieren una voz, a través de la cual expresan sus aportes a ese eterno cuestionamiento acerca de quiénes somos y cuál es nuestro origen.

In this workshop, participants will learn about the basic tools and techniques of traditional drawing, and then will apply them to the surroundings of the Sarah Lawrence campus—we’ll draw outside, from life. Experience level is completely open. If you’ve never drawn before, you’ll take the first steps toward being able to draw what you see, and if you have experience drawing, this workshop will allow you to explore your visual environment in new and exciting ways.

I am using slide film to explore the phrase 'visual poetry'. The is part of my Final Major Project for Art Foundation. I am hoping to use these images for a slide installation as my final outcome.
