Saarloq is a settlement in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. Its population was 21 in 2020. It is located on a small island with the same name off the Labrador Sea coast, at the mouth of the Qaqortoq Fjord, west of Alluitsup Paa and 20 km south of Qaqortoq.
The settlement is the southernmost of the three settlements—along Eqalugaarsuit and Qassimiut—that made up the former Qaqortoq municipality. The settlements are presently governed by a joint settlement council. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saarloq)

Social network graph of #slaname tweet replies October 14, 2009 to December 11, 2009. In color.
The more lines you have, the more @replies to different people you sent. If you don't appear on the graph, but know that you sent out @replies, it's because the person you sent your @reply to never sent out an @reply and so that person won't appear on the graph and unfortunately, you can't either!
Based on the code of eskimoblood.
Created using Processing with data from the #slaname Twapper Keeper archive setup by iBraryGuy.
Each pixel in "original" size is 5 square miles.
The darkest pixels are where a geotagged picture was posted in May, 2004, the oldest data I have, and get lighter and lighter by month for places where the oldest available picture is more and more recent. The areas that are totally white have no geotagged pictures at all.

Comme partout sous ces latitudes, les verts sont d’une puissance tout à fait stupéfiante et l’appareil photo a toutes les peines à restituer le sentiment qui vous envahi quand de telles couleurs vous entourent.

Ship tracks reveal pollution's effects on clouds
NASA's MODIS satellite instrument is revealing that humans may be changing our planet's brightness. Pollution in the atmosphere creates smaller, brighter cloud droplets that reflect more sunlight back to space and may have a slight impact on global warming.
This narrated visualization illustrates how we can study the effect against a clean backdrop by looking for zones of pollution in otherwise pristine air - in this case the North Pacific Ocean near the Aleutian islands. On an overcast day, the clouds look uniform. However, MODIS' sesor reveals a different picture - long skinny trails of brighter clouds hidden within. As ships travel across the ocean, pollution in the ships' exhaust create more cloud drops that are smaller in size, resulting in even brighter clouds. On clear days, ships can actually create new clouds. Water vapor condenses around the particles of pollution, forming streamers of clouds as the ships travel on. The ship tracks themselves are too small to impact global temperatures, but they help us understand how larger pollution sources such as industrial sites or agricultural burning might be changing clouds on a larger scale.

It's a prayer for peace,
may those who lied their way into taking a nation to war be held accountable to the fullest extent.
The most loving action we could take for people like Richard Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, the architects of war, would be to arrest them, and investigate their actions regarding war, so that they may have opportunity to repay their tremendous debt to society and humanity, and thereby be able restore their position amongst the human family.
We really need an investigation into the alleged crimes of war of Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al.. And so do they. We owe it to them, and to everyone - to all of humanity.

Bernoulli's Pricipal: An increase in the velocity of a fluid causes a decrease in pressure.
Lower pressure also creates a lower temperature. When the temperature is below the dew point, water vapor in the air condensates.
Keeping these facts in mind, we can see the vortices where the air is spinning at high velocity (think tornado) coming from the wingtips as well as from generators on the engines. We can also see less intense condensation due to the low pressure on the top of the wing that is lifting this 500,000lb aircraft off he ground. Notice more condensation inboard near the fuselage. This is from the distribution of pressure (and hence lift) over the span wing. More lift inboard, less towards the tips.
At the tips, the difference in pressure above and below the wing causes the air to want to flow around the tip from bottom to top. As the wing moves forward, the air is left swirling around in a vortex where the wing was. Having less lift at the tips means a smaller pressure difference and a weaker vortex. The curve at the end of the wing provides a barrier between the areas of low and high pressure on the bottom and the top of the wing respectively reducing the vortex strength and/or allows more lift to be produced further out on the wing without creating a stronger vortex. This is important because the stronger the vortex, the more the induced drag (drag due to lift).
As for the why vortex generators on the engines, that goes beyond my basic areodynamics background. Likely due to complex interaction between the airflow around the engines, pylons and the wing itself.
