"This here was not what I wanted to do! I much rather would have just foraged on a grassy field or swam in our pond but our parents decided to take us on an adventure. They were leading us very confidently and what is there for us kids to do other than tiptoe after them. No bird crossing signs, just people signs like "DEAD END" that didn't help me feel any better of this unwise morning walk."

in the midst of schiphol airport’s constant motion, a momentary stillness is captured in this scene. an empty chair sits alone, casting its shadow on the patterned wood of the café communal. next to it, the fleeting shadow of a hurried passenger who has no time to sit. this black and white photograph, taken in amsterdam’s bustling airport, beautifully contrasts the quiet anticipation of the empty chair with the ephemeral presence of a traveler in haste. the interplay of light and shadow adds depth to the image, highlighting the transient nature of travel and the brief moments of calm in busy public spaces.
this image captures a fleeting moment where the cityscape of hannoverâs osterstraÃe divides itself into two mirrored worlds. the sharp reflection on the glass façade creates a striking symmetry, making it difficult to discern where reality ends and its reflection begins. the woman walking by, engrossed in her phone, seems unaware that sheâs both here and there, existing in two spaces at once. this juxtaposition of the ordinary and the abstract invites viewers to question the boundaries of perception, as the urban environment transforms into a surreal dance of light, shadow, and reflection.
the silence in la lonja lingers, pressed between stone and shadow. light spills through the gothic window, carving shapes on the floor, stretching time.
one woman walks, her steps dissolving into darkness. another waits, half-vanished in the sun. neither belong, yet the walls remember them.
outside, the city moves. inside, nothing does.
When I was posting this seascape on Flickr I was just giving it the title of 'another beautiful sunset'. We seem to have had beautiful vibrant sunsets most days this week. Then the weather forecast came on and the presenter explained:
The clouds are called Sahara Dust clouds;
They appear when the winter sun is lower in the sky;
We see longer wavelength colours; orange, pink and red;
Dust particles in the atmosphere reflect and scatter the light from the sun;
They create vivid reds, oranges, pinks, yellows and purples.
And there's me thinking we just have pretty skies at the moment.
I'm really not a dog lover but this cheeky chap bounced along the undercliff path, splashing in and out of the water, and then stopped and looked at me as if to say 'ready’.

she sat alone, staring into the distance.
not waiting. not thinking.
just resting where the sky met the water.
i saw her from the promenade in palmanova.
she didn´t move. the sea didn ´t either.
I knew Saturday was going to be a dry day with the possibility of some sunshine. So I decided it was time for some wildlife and I headed to the British Wildlife Centre (britishwildlifecentre.co.uk)
A great day - the sun shone and the animals all came out and posed in perfect light. Here’s another little poser from the day.
The Volks Electric Railway Association (VOLK's) opens on 11th April for the summer season but only from the Pier to the halfway station. The opening of the final part is dependent on the Black Rock Rejuvenation contractors completing the work on all the other crossings and the other crossing gates arriving on time. Meanwhile this one is looking rather cool.
Spent a few hours in one of the most calming places in Sussex. Stunning butterflies flying all around us and landing on our bodies and our camera. It's cheating wildlife photography but great practice and so calming. They seemed to land in the pond where they relaxed on the foliage. This Blue Morpho was definitely the worse for wear but we noticed quiet a few flying about with shabby wings - I was going to say moth eaten ;-))
The bubble man was out on the seafront today providing non stop fun and laughter for kids and parents alike. Lovely to see the Great Dane join in the fun.
I took quite a few shots of Steve as I talked to him from the boardwalk. He was having trouble looking up at me in the light so I only managed to capture him with one eye closed. But it is a natural working portrait in the marina quay.
When I was walking into Brighton this gorgeous little chap looked longingly at me through a garden gate.
A section of Englands Coastal Path through Black Rock. The area had no public access for the last year.
I went into Brighton to photograph the Black Lives Matter march but couldn’t resist a panorama of the beach, the skyline and the layers of beautiful clouds.
Not to conquer, but to protect.
Not to dominate, but to defend what’s sacred.
He stands not for glory, but for grace.
His strength is measured not in how loud he roars,
but in how long he listens.
He does not seek battle,
but he will not abandon the gate.
He holds the line - not for power,
but for peace.
Because some things - truth, dignity, love -
are worth guarding with everything we are.

Every evening through the winter the Marina starlings return at sundown, spend 5/10 minutes in murmurations around the harbour before they dive under Weatherspoon’s to sleep for the night. It only takes seconds for them to stream from the sky to under the pontoon so it’s difficult to capture a photo of them in their masses, but I captured a few.
These little boxes appeared on Madeira Drive this weekend and rumour had it that they were to accommodate the homeless if we go into another lockdown!!! That rumour was quickly quashed when somebody realised all the little pods had been removed from the Brighton Eye.
The building in the background is the old Kemp Town Reading Rooms. They were adapted in 1835 to accommodate the Kemp Town Committee meetings; Grade 11 Listed in 1952; abandoned in the late 1900's along with Black Rock; and to date decorated by graffiti artists, abandoned, derelict and occupied on and off by homeless
Big plans afoot as part of the Black Rock Rejuvenation Project. Watch this space ……………..
The last time I took a photo of Falmer Ponds they had completely dried out due to extreme temperatures and lack of rain. Those ducks that could fly had moved on and a working party had been set up to rescue the fish.
Move on 4 months and the ponds are not only full to the brim ……… but the ducks are skating on thin ice.
Bentley with his latest creation showed up at our car and motorcycle show - it was one of those days that brought a lot of creativity in one location
I was mid-nap in a coffin lined with disco ball fragments when someone hit me with a spotlight like I owed them rent. Now I’m squinting through zebra-stripes of illumination, shielding my eyes like I just saw my own tax return.
You! Yeah, you with the flashlight of judgment - I see you. I’m reaching out, not for help, but to offer you a haunted timeshare and maybe a coupon for cursed lasagna.
I’m not here to be subtle. I’m here to be loud, striped, and slightly confusing.
If you shine a light on me, expect interpretive gestures, unsolicited advice, and possibly a tap dance performed entirely in reverse.
Side effects may include:

- Inexplicable craving for beet salad
- Temporary possession by the spirit of a lounge singer named Carl
