Justin Canha, a young artist with autism, prepares for life as an independent adult. Links to special features with Mr. Canha and his art can be found in the article text.

In the article, AMY HARMON, describes a dream poster that Justin Canha creates. Using the idea of his poster as a template, Justin's path to independence is outlined as the highlights are revealed through the story.

Papa didn't have a Hawaiian shirt, neither did he want to buy one. He said they are all too flowery. Mama said you have to wear it if all three of us (mom, brother and I) like it. We went shopping. It wasn't easy - my family is like a circus (?!) that we are all into different things. In the end with a little compromises all-around, we found one for papa. Here he is, in a not-so-flowery Hawaiian shirt, with mama's hand in his hand.

Start with four, take one away and still end up with four!

If you can't see the answer to the riddle, have a look at Overhead Explanation.

Took these pictures for the Tell A Story in Five Frames group (which seems to be defunkt - though I'll post there anyway just in case). Thought Busy 2 would work for the Macro Monday group too.

Under the glow of the half-moon, a quiet moment is shared between parent and child, as the world winds down for the day. A reminder of simple joys, with the beauty of twilight and the warmth of togetherness.

On a whim, I "splurged" and purchased an Amaryllis belladonna bulb which was just beginning to sprout, at Trader Joe's on December 23, 2023. I was totally unsure whether it would really flower, as I had never had one before. My husband and I were amazed and delighted by the entire growth process, the beauty of every part of the plant, and the delicate scent of the flowers! I decided to do a macro study, which began on the day of purchase and has continued through today, February 1, 2024. It bloomed not once, but twice and still has one last perfect flower, which will fade within a few more days, as have the other three of the four-blossom "crown." The $9.99 (US dollars) that was spent, turned out to pay dividends!

Submitted as picture number 3 to the Tell a story in 5 frames (Visual story telling) group.

Based on a true story. Action figures were harmed prior to the making of this story.

Full explanation: I had an idea to do a bit of animation with some action figures. Not having any myself (...well not enough from a single set) I asked daughter number 2 if she could ask her friend's wee brother (are you still following this?) for a loan of some of his figures. He came up trumps. I was looking for six or seven figures from the same series - superheroes or film characters. He gave me over a dozen Lord of the Rings figures. Brilliant!

I put them in a box to keep them safe and left the box on the table to take to work. However, while having my morning shower, the dogs were left unsupervised for a while. One of them, I suspect Blue, managed to pull the box off the table and when daughter number two came down the stairs, the dogs were happily chewing both box and figures. Disaster! (Interestingly, the Orcs seem to have taken the most damage - see Orc 1 and Orc 2. Obviously the boys know who the baddies are.)

Help! So now I'm asking for your help. Does anyone recognise this style of figure? (I took a biggish picture of Gandalf and Legolas which may help with identification.) Even better, can anyone point me in the direction of a UK supplier so I can buy replacements? The fate of the ring figure bearer is in your hands. :-)

What do you think is in the letter?

If you think telling a story in just five photos is easy, that any nutjob with a camera can do it, then you have certainly never created one.

I couldn't resist for so long to follow this theme. I take the picture with an old Nokia 6660 cel camera (right) and just add a filmic appeal by add layers of software changes.

Do I really need a good night's sleep? With a rough look for a while just to give my skin a rest from shaving and pissed of by a loud passenger that can't make a trip without a chit-chat about the daily life with wherever he happens to be, I will probably not win the anchorman's chair or a job as a weatherman. So, in this case, Best Villain to me. (You can hear the louder saying goodbye to his victim in the end of video.)

I'm out photographing on the street. It's a beautiful day and the colours are popping. In the distance, a fashionably dressed lady approaches and I realise her colour harmonises with the scene in front of me. So I move quickly into position, click and here's the result.
