This digital photomontage features Sky, an adventurer and content creator who climbs the rugged cliffs of Karoulia on Mount Athos—an area historically inhabited by hermit monks since the 8th century. The caves were sacred spaces of solitude, inhabited by ascetics who traded handcrafted items for meager supplies and relied on collected rainwater for survival.
In this fictional narrative, Sky defies Mount Athos’s gender ban and squeezes herself into one of these remote caves, hoping to document her journey for social media. Though unaware of the legal consequences of disturbing such sites, her intent is not theft, but exposure—a digital relic-hunt that toes the line between curiosity and transgression. This piece explores the ethical tension between cultural preservation and the modern urge to document, conquer, and share. This artwork speaks to the cooptation of social movements by the fashion industry. Vivienne Westwood is considered to be the first fashion designer to create punk fashions for commercial sale. When the fashion associated with a social movement is co-opted, it can significantly weaken the movement by diluting its message, undermining its authenticity, and potentially turning the movement into a trend that lacks real political substance, effectively taking away the power of the original symbolic gesture used by activists. The Swiss Guard, is a protective security unit maintained by the Holy See that protects the Pope and the Apostolic Palace within the territory of the Vatican City State. The guard represents the absolute power of a theocracy. Behind him, partially shrouded by mist and trees, are a wolf and a fawn. The wolf gazes calmly at the guard, as if assessing its place in the unfolding tension. It does not see the fawn. The guard and the vulnerable fawn are both oblivious to the wolf’s presence. The viewer is left to imagine what will take place in the next few moments. We may assume that the scene will change dramatically. This juxtaposition of symbolic characters asks the viewer to consider what will occur. Who or what is “worthy of protection,” the powerful or the powerless. Will the guard protect the powerful wolf or the helpless fawn.
Linda Lewis creates a thought-provoking and visually captivating piece that transcends simple storytelling. The work invites the viewer to contemplate the role of protectors, institutional power, and the powerless in our world. It balances emotional depth with technical excellence and symbolic richness.

One of the very first pictures I took is the wrap-up shot. The ease of the kids with the cows was remarkable. I was occasionally a little scared of the cows. The girls seemingly never were. Notice that they are all either leaning on or lying on top of a Beltie that is lounging. This scene went on for nearly half-an-hour.
One curious thing: I was surprised that my teachers both preferred this shot to ones without the onlooker w/ camera on the right of the frame. Without outside comment and critique, I almost certainly would have cropped that out. But I can see the value, once it was pointed out to me. (I think, anyway lol)
And that's it! Over a thousand pictures later, some very good pictures that aren't even here, that's my story: The Beltie Girls. What an amazing experience.

In the 60s, feminists began to stage performance art as a form of protest. This scene speaks to the atrocities perpetrated against women by psychiatry. This work explores the theme of unyielding power and the helplessness of its victims. The cloaked figure represents patriarchy reinforced by religious doctrine—faceless, shrouded, and impersonal, it demands submission rather than negotiation. Her raised hand points toward the raven, a symbol of death, indicating that such a fate would be preferable to the life she faces under this force. Yet her dilemma is inescapable: without intervention, her life will end regardless. An exploration of light as both subject and storyteller, where every curve and line is a fragment of the Luminarium's language.
I know it's really, really early - but I'm thinking that this year, despite my best intentions, I won't fight against the trend of Christmas moving to centre stage at retailers starting in October. So here's my "contribution".
Oh, and it is related to this photo (which I took two years ago) of an "African" Christmas tree made out of beads.

Looking for the final solution for the "woman" problem. In the past, the medical establishment's solutions included, cocaine, heroin, lobotomies vibrators, strait jackets and incarceration. This solution seems even more egregious.
