From these only the best grapes are selected to makethese limited Individual Vineyard wines of rare quality. During 1973 Vintage a special selection of Riesling grapes was made from the famous Kaiser Stuhl vineyard "Wyncroft" at Eden Valley Golden over-ripe bunches of Riesling grapes were separated during the picking and were separately processed to obtain the most exclusive selected late harvest grapes. At Kaiser Stuhl Cellars the winemakers carefully controlled the slow process of fermentation to retain the residual sweetness. Before all the sugar was coverted the new wine was chilled to arrest fermentation The wine was then rapidly cleaned and bottle at an early age The result is a full flowery wine with a rich bouquet similar in style to the German "Auslese" wines A wine for the Connoisseur Bottle No. 10778 For convenience refer to this wine as the "Purple Ribbon"

Pokolbin N.S.W. - Produce of Australia Murray D Tyrrell Winemaker D2404 The Red wines produced in 1974 are typical of those from wet cloudy years which are sometimes experienced in the Hunter. The wines generally have a more intense fruit character and are lighterin body than those of hot years. Our oldest vines from the red clay soil of our eight acre vineyard were picked during early vintage to make this wine. It shows good red, purple colour, strong fruit flavour and a firm slightly astringent finish. I believe this will develop into a true Hunter style and will continue to improve after 3-4 years bottle ageing. 738ml."

Label reads:"The 1975 Vintage in the Hunter Valley has produced light Whites similar to those of the 1972 Vintage. This wine was made from Traminer grapes grown in the Pokolbin district. Traminer is an early ripening variety and the grapes for this wine were amongst the first picked for the 1975 Vintage. The wine was fermented under very cold conditions to retain the natural aromatic characteristics of the Traminer variety. This wine has a high aromatic nose, a fruity slightly sweet palate and a clean spritzig finish. This wine will improve with further bottle ageing if stored at temperatures not exceeding 18° C.
