Label reads:" The 1979 Vintage has produced white wines of exceptional quality. The wines are full soft styles with good fruit and soft acid balance. This wine was made from late picked Semillon grapes. The juice was fermented with minimum refrigeration in the old German Oak puncheons. The strong full flavour of the ripe semillon has been lifted and made more complex by the small Oak treatment. This wine possesses a deep ruby colour with the distinctive varietal nose, things which can only be acquired from the soil of Clare. I liken it to dark chocolate. Label reads:" 1981 EDEN VALLEY RHINE RIESLING This wine typifiies the philosophy of Krondorf Winemakers Grant Burge and Ian Wilson which is to produce high quality table wines exhibiting distinct area and varietal Characteristics Each year only the highest quality Rhine Riesling grapes from the Eden Valley area are selected to produce this wine. The high altitude of the Eden district ensures cooler ripening conditions giving wines of elegance and finesse. Using controlled temperature techniques the winemakers were careful to capture maxium flavour and aroma from the grape variety. The wine was bottled in July 1981 and has been held in the cool Krondorf Cellars allowing it to settle and mature prior to release It shows elegance of style typical of the Eden Valley region and will continue to improve with further bottle maturation for two to three years.
