"If life were made up only of imporant things, it really would be a dangerous house of glass, scarcely to be handled carelessly. But everyday life was exactly like the headlines. And so everybody, knowing the meaninglessness of existence, sets the centre of his compass at his own home.” - Kōbō Abe

Esteban, the man at the rear, seems to have received the raw end of the deal after losing to Boy Botong in game of rock-paper-scissors. Now he gets to carry the heavier side of the load. What Esteban didn't know was that the boy was ranked No. 2 in the World's Hand Game Competition.

After Titian. Before Lunch
I love the drawings and paintings by the Venetian artist Titian ( 1488/90-1576 ). I was lucky to work with the National Gallery collection for close to 30 years. I have always found so much inspiration from paintings and it has been hard to be distanced form the originals. This picture is after his drawings in museum collections around the world.
These portraits of plants, have been made for many different reasons but always for the JOY of it. All of my photographs are daytime, made in city parks and gardens and virtually straight out of the camera with the absolute minimum of post processing.
This on going photographic odyssey that I call TERRA INCOGNITA has helped me notice what is always present in my life if I can make the time to look.
