Itajubá view (Itajubá is a city in the south border of Minas Gerais state, Brazil).

I decided to deal with the behaviour of a group of people against animals, especially the pets that live in our neighbourhood and in our houses.

In my country the last few years we experienced many cases of bad behaviour to animals, I can see from my own experience that many people don’t respect animals and they don’t understand that animals have their own rights. They think that they can torture and kill them whenever they want without conscience.

These people exist in my “family”, in my neighbourhood and in my country. I don’t understand why they don’t realise that they don’t have the right to treat animals in this way.

Although many of these incidents are on TV and the police knows who are responsible they don’t proceed to prosecute them.

I want to send a message to the people around us that animals have their own rights.

On the two t-shirts you can see two animals that are the main animals that we have as pets, or the most common animals that live in our neighbourhood, in our garden and in our house.

At the back side of the T-shirts I drew a dog and a cat sitting and turning their head looking at us angrily as they are expecting a reply.

At the front side of the T-shirt I used a slogan-an ironic question as the dog and the cat are waiting for the answer to this question ‘’animals = humans right? ‘’

T-shirt is a media that allows us to use two opposite printing areas to print designs and slogans that supplement each other. We wear T-shirts communicating the message to the people walking around us.

In the photo you can see my cat, Mavel. My family adopted Mavel when his mother was poisoned. Now he is a member of my family.

Comfort: Visual Systems

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

BMW Guggenheim Lab

First Park | Houston at Second Ave.

New York City

Conventional definitions of comfort as an individual measure are being upended by the unseen risks in the shared systems that our social and personal comfort-ability depends upon. VisionArc director, Landon Brown, presents a talk and open workshop to examine the interface between visual language and the shared systems of day-to-day life in the city. The visual language of formal systems will be used as a stepping off point. From there the workshop opens to discuss ways in which the repurposing of familiar parts of the city's social, infrastructural and commercial landscape might offer a glimpse into future solutions for confronting shared risk at the urban scale.

This is a set of 5 over-sized postcards of some of my visual journal pages. Each glossy postcard represents a journal spread, and is 8.5" x 5.5". The printing quality is so good, you can read my writing and feel what I was feeling when I created the journal page. Keep it for yourself for art inspiration, or mail it. The back is blank, except for my information, so you can write a note and address it.

Aside from the junk during the travel phase of my vacation, this plate represents most of my meals during my 4 day vacation. I ate this stuff pretty much breakfast, lunch and dinner--except for a a few larabars, cheese rectangles, and some Fritos. :D

We have:

Cotel de Cameron

Broccoli salad

Tabouleh

Boiled Egg

Trisket

This is my new journal that I made for 2009. The front and back have embedded lace, and the front also has embedded letters. It's all covered with paint and glitter glue, as it should be.

I like the binding that I did. It was tricky because I had to sew in 2 signatures at the same time to get this design. But it was worth it.
