A few feathery flakes are scattered widely through the air, and hover downward with uncertain flight, now almost alighting on the earth, now whirled again aloft into remote regions of the atmosphere.

I took this photo while visiting Monique in Alberta...it only snowed for a very short time and didn't stay...but so pretty.

On a long (8.5 hours) hike to the Subway in Zion National Park / Utah / USA we passed these magnificent cascade. For me they were because of the autumnal coloring of deciduous trees, the unique highlight of this tour.

This particular flower lasts until frost, so it was visited by many hoverflies and bees, especially in late fall.

Silver Gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae)

I wandered up to the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands this morning to see how they are looking after all the rain yesterday. I have not seen them this wet since 2014. Occasionally I will see one or two Gulls there, today there was a flock of about 80 working along the D I Drain.

Dag took me on a tour here. in December last year.

This was taken in one of the Calas Galadhon sims, I forgot which one :-)

I saw this Fashionably Dead outfit while in the store looking at the April 30th Saturday Sale when I noticed that this outfit was the same price. I later came across the commuter rail car in the Orchid Island sim, and the idea popped into my head. Having been able to visit home as travel restrictions have eased, I took a pic at the spur of the moment. It about sums up how I felt about going home.

Thanks to Alicia West for looking at my few pictures for the the last two years and persisting in encouraging me to resume posting.

Visiting the ponds at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, on a hot & sunny day out east from Atlanta and nearer the coastal plain, was like moving ahead a month in time! Amberwings galore, Widow skimmers, Slaty skimmers and even a Prince baskettail were cruising by. We're closer to the mountains at home and our local wetlands are very slow bug-wise - but get more rare species. Summer species like pennants and forceptails had not started yet at Charlie Elliott.

This Widow skimmer just glistened in the sun. Surprisingly few butterflies.
