Die Kunstinstallation "Visions in Motion" des Künstlers Patrick Shearn mit 30.000 Wünschen, Hoffnungen und Ideen am Brandenburger Tor vor der Eröffnung bei den Feiern zum 30. Jubiläum des Mauerfalls.
30,000 messages for the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Installation from Patrick Shearn. Berlin 2019.
children, who have only just come into this physical world, still carry with them a spiritual knowing and with that they really and truly ~SEE~ ... it is through the "growing up" that so much of that magical vision is pushed aside and / or ignored / supressed ...
There are however blessed numbers who make the decision to re-embrace this gift again later in life.
What do you see for your 2009 ahead? Take the time to have a look and really see ... create your vision of the year and hold on to it, feel it, be absorbed by it ... totally immerse yourself in the vision and then, yes then you will find yourself experiencing the year you had envisaged :-)
May 2009 reveal the realisation of your innermost dreams and desires, your innermost vision!!
Now here's one that excites me :-) The VISION has been EXPLORED !!! :-) Awesome! Thank you all ... I am so delighted because, well ... I really was rather pleased with this shot as such, and of course it's a portrait of a little boy I adore, and beyond all of that, I'd attached a message with it ... and so I'm delighted it's been put out there and received :-)

After leaving the B&B, we drove to Sydney, which was a longer drive than I'd expected. We stopped at a Timmy's where I supplemented my breakfast with a donut and a cookie, and then went across the street to Walmart. I saw in the forecast that it was supposed to be cold in Newfoundland, and I hadn't packed a hoodie despite Ally suggesting I pack my thick blue hoodie. So I bought a thin summer-stock hoodie, and then we went into the downtown section. We stopped in an art store that was selling paintings of squared-off, vividly-colored cows; a Long & McQuade; a hipster coffee shop (wasn't expecting that in semi-rural Nova Scotia), and then we headed to Sydney Ribfest for lunch -- or we just happened upon it and decided to eat there. I think that's what happened actually. We walked past a stage where a guy was playing guitar and singing with nobody watching...but there were quite a few people eating. Mom bought me a pulled pork sandwich and some lemonade. Then we went back to North Sydney and got to the ferry terminal at 1:20, where I immediately got out of the car as soon as we parked in the line, and started taking pictures of the ferries -- one of my main goals for the trip, of course.

Mariah Carey - Bye Bye
Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1969 or 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. In 1990, she rose to fame with the release of "Vision of Love" from her eponymous debut album. The album produced four chart-topping singles in the US and began what would become a string of commercially successful albums which solidified the singer as Columbia's highest selling act. Carey and Boyz II Men spent a record sixteen weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995–96 with "One Sweet Day," which remains the longest-running number-one song in US chart history. Following a contentious divorce from Sony Music head Tommy Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and traversed towards hip hop with the release of Butterfly (1997). In 1998, she was honored as the world's best-selling recording artist of the 1990s at the World Music Awards and subsequently named the best-selling female artist of the millennium in 2000.
Carey parted with Columbia in 2000, and signed a record-breaking $100 million recording contract with Virgin Records America. In the weeks prior to the release of her film Glitter and its accompanying soundtrack in 2001, she suffered a physical and emotional breakdown and was hospitalized for severe exhaustion. The project was poorly received and led to a general decline in the singer's career. Carey's recording contract was bought out for $50 million by Virgin and she signed a multi-million dollar deal with Island Records the following year. After a relatively unsuccessful period, she returned to the top of music charts with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). The album became the best-selling album in the US and the second best-seller worldwide in 2005 and produced "We Belong Together," which became her most successful single of the 2000s, and was later named "Song of the Decade" by Billboard. Carey once again ventured into film with a well-received supporting role in Precious (2009), and was awarded the "Breakthrough Performance Award" at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

"Naturaleza es la forma en que el hombre de las culturas elevadas da unidad y significación a las impresiones inmediatas de sus sentidos.
Historia es la forma en que su imaginación trata de comprender la existencia viviente del universo de su propia vida, prestándole así una realidad más profunda"

From today through next Thursday, a group of American and Canadian eye doctors will be here in Perquín giving free eye exams, handing out glasses and medication, and performing cataract surgery. Dr. Brinker, the leader of the trip, is an eye doctor from Ohio who, along with a few other doctors attending his church, started bringing groups of doctors to El Salvador in the mid-90s. Since then through family, friends, and business contacts, the group has expanded to nearly fifty doctors and specialists who make the two week trip to different parts of El Salvador every year. Each year they come, they solicit the help of local organizations to establish a locale, and provide food and transportation. And they solicit the help of the Peace Corps for translating.
Today was the first day of the campaign, and between eight in the morning and four this afternoon we saw nearly 400 patients come through. They go first to have their long vision tested, and then have a close vision test. From here, they are either sent directly to receive reading glasses, to the autorefraction room for more advanced diagnostics, or to consultation to receive medicine and see if they are a candidate for surgery.
I spent most of the day in the autorefraction room. There were three doctors present, all of whom spoke enough Spanish to handle the more straight-forward tasks. So I spent most of the day doing crowd control, and translating for them when something more complicated came along.
Several people from Torola came through the line today, so whenever I saw one of them I would stop and talk, and answer any questions they had. In the evening, the doctors, who were very thankful for our work as translators, treated us to dinner, for which we were very thankful.
Pike School of Art – Mississippi artists in residence for Fall 2015 were Samwell Freeman, Mackenzie Hoffman, and Keith Walsh. The residency took place from October 12, through October 25, 2015.
Samwell Freeman, a Computer Vision researcher at Apple, developing software for large-scale construction of 3D images, completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the City University of New York. He has taught math and programming courses and led workshops on interactive art, Arduino, and 3D printing at Alpha One Labs, a hacker space in Brooklyn.
During his residency, Freeman worked on an interactive video installation called Beautalyzer. Beautalyzer displays the output and inner workings of a viewer-taught algorithm, which tries to recognize the beauty of images. The installation is comprised of wall-mounted screens and a 3D printed interface. Machine learning is an increasingly important part of our lives, influencing the news we read, the people we meet, and the things we buy. The Beautalyzer hopes to open up this black box of artificial intelligence. What we find may be frightening or enchanting, demonic or hilarious; in any case, it offers us cybernetic insight into the nature of beauty.
The Beautalyzer project explores the potential for collaborative learning between people and machines. Viewers are given the responsibility to teach the algorithm what is beautiful, by labeling images according to their own aesthetic judgment. Simultaneously, viewers are shown vivid illustrations of the algorithm’s effects.
Mackenzie Hoffman is an interdisciplinary artist living in Los Angeles, CA. She received her B.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Southern California, where she was a recipient of the Handtmann Prize for Photography, as well as the Neely Macomber Travel Prize. She is an alumna of the Mountain School of Art, Los Angeles.
Hoffman uses photography and video to explore the construction of regional identities and their filmic representations, with a primary focus on the contemporary american South. Recent projects have described the gradual encroachment of social change within her multi-generational Southern white family, producing works that are both sympathetic and frustrated. She photographs provincial iconography, including the southern landscape, in an ongoing study of history, location and image.
Hoffman used her time at PSA-MS to further her interest in the present day physical and personal landscapes of the American South and to focus on new video work.
While at PSA-MS, Keith Walsh worked on a project titled “The SNCC Mounds,” a poetic interpolation of the legacy of the McComb-area Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) engagements of the 1960s.
Walsh’s project continues his investigation of the Civil Rights and Black Panthers movements, within the larger geography of American liberation politics. The figure who links these two groups is the black SNCC activist Stokely Carmichael who, in 1964, was the full-time field organizer in Mississippi for the “Freedom Summer” voter registration drives, itinerant “freedom schools,” and protests. Various black residents, businesses, and churches in McComb housed or supported hundreds of SNCC and other civil rights workers during Freedom Summer and were met with repeated police arrests, neglect by governmental authorities, KKK cross-burnings and bombings. The firsthand experience of the sites, people, and histories within McComb were essential to developing Walsh’s project.
While in the region, Walsh conducted research at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in Jackson, the state capital, and, in New Orleans; and visited cultural resources such as Hilda Casin’s Black History Gallery and met civil rights pioneer, Brenda Travis. To come to PSA-MS, Walsh won The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, 2016 Traveling Fellowship. Walsh received his BFA from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, West Hartford CT and a dual MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University, Boston.
