Now, to install the OS in a virtual machine, we'll need to download virtual machine software. We'll download the free program Virtual Box (Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris) at 4mbg6l
Putting the 64-bit Windows 7 Release Candidate through it's paces. I've been running it on a Dell desktop for the past 3 weeks and on a couple of old Pentium 4 boxen. This is my first experience with it on a mainstream notebook (Core 2 Duo T8100). So far it runs quite well and feels spritely. Everything I've installed so far is working (still need to install a couple of drivers but they aren't critical ones) except OpenVPN. Let's see: Firefox 3.5beta4, Virtual PC 7, CDBurnerXP (Lightscribe works!), iTunes 64-bit, CutePDF Writer, Foxit PDF Reader, DivX 7, VirtualBox 2.2.2, SunJava, Adobe Flash plugins, DxO Optics Pro Standard 5.3.3, and, and...
Well, I will need to decide whether to give Aptana Studio another look see, GimPad (though reportedly it's buggy in Vista), NotePad++, and some others.
February 5, 2017. Did a Costco run and ran into a snow squall at exit 88 on the highway while filling up. The rest of the day I messed around with bagrant and VirtualBox some more.
Why yes, that is Windows XP running in a window on my Macbook, thanks to a free program called VirtualBox (BYO XP). Now I can work with my ancient copy of Microsoft Money without having to kick my son off the upstairs (Windows 7) computer.
Virtualbox running on Vista network configuration allowing the guest system (ubuntu) run network server software. So far tested ssh, works fine.
Bright orange... yup. The icons sure look a lot better though. A little easier on the eyes if you ask me.

Installare Kali Linux su Windows 10 senza VirtualBox e senza dual boot via www.diggita.it/v.php?id=1622890
bei rachel: eine saubere windows-installation in einer halben stunde
auf einem brandneuen macbook pro. weil's halt so bestimmte geographen-
statistik-programme nur auf windows gibt.
schmerzt aber trotzdem ein bisschen :)
Although I deleted my Windows 7 partition a few days ago, that doesn't mean that some people won't have use for Windows and when that happens, you can go one of four routes:
Boot Camp, Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.
The great thing about VirtualBox is that it's free and you don't have to reboot like you would with Boot Camp.

From ca. 2003, this is the very first Linux distribution I ever tried, I recently came across the CD I received on the cover of some magazine all those years ago, and so decided to install it in VirtualBox for a trip back in time. It is ancient by todays standards, has Mozilla 1.4 (no Firefox) and KDE 3.1 and Linux kernel 2.4. I really like KDE 3.x.
A screenshot showing an Ubuntu Linux guest running in a Windows XP hosted virtual box VM, and it is running Laconica, an opensource micro-blogging package.
I promise not to do this too often, but flickr is the only photo site I use and I need to refer to this picture on other sites.
On left: Windows XP running in VirtualBox. On right, the same image on Linux. When I upload the image (from Linux), it looks like the image on the right. How could a virtual machine be changing the gamma?
Solution: It wasn't. CS5 was setting my color-space funny and different programs interpreted it differently. I changed it to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and everything is fine now. Intuitive, no?
How did I do that? Open a RAW photo. At the bottom of the Camera Raw 6.4.1 window, is a little blue underlined link. Click on it to bring up the Workflow Options dialog. Choose sRGB IEC61966-2.1 from the "Space:" drop-down and click OK. I don't remember how I set this as the default. Maybe it just remembered.
This probably also has to be set when you choose File: Save As. There is a Color: checkbox with the same name that should be checked.
One more, maybe this is the default: Click Edit. Choose Color Settings. Under Working Spaces, choose sRGB IEC61966-2.1. That looks like maybe the main one.
