For the 21-day photo challenge in order to celebrate Flickr's 21st birthday!

Day 13: Vintage

At the time when we were visiting Tallinn there was some young seagulls standing on the walls and learning to fly. Some of them were really into the posing mood ;)

This photo came from my first night shooting sunset at Mohave Pt. in Grand Canyon National Park, April, 2024. Hopi Pt. is more recommended in travel books but we spent more time here late in the day because (1) you get good 270 degree views as you work around the point (including a ribbon of the Colorado River), and (2) on a practical basis, the shuttle doesn't stop at Hopi on its way back.

a bit of a fuller more sweeping view of the terraces at Linderhof Palace in Bavaria... I was about mid level here I believe...very green with all plants life just coming alive in early May...you can see where I took the previous image just about lower middle ...I could have looked at this scene for eons..and never tired of it...but we were off to more beauty and the Bavarian countryside was beckoning to us and heading to explore the WEISS CHURCH or in German known as the" Weiskirche"...not far away..Church in the meadow...

View on the mountain Stol (2236 m.) from the upper part of the Vintgar Gorge. You can see also the river down below :)

River and rocks in the Vintgar Gorge :)

Vintgar Gorge is a 1,6 km long gorge in northwestern Slovenia in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled. Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley. The sheer canyon walls are 50 to 100 meters high, with a total slope measuring about 250 m. The stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids, and terminates in the picturesque Å um Falls, the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. The gorge was explored in 1891 and in 1893 the gorge was equipped with wooden observation walkways and bridges and was opened to the public.

My Mom had a late afternoon dental appointment on Monday that I took her to. Afterwards I joined her for dinner and then since I brought my camera along, I suggested we go up to the rooftop patio and watch the sunset. She liked that idea. We enjoyed the view and I also enjoyed the photo opp.

Another view of the wintery scene at Vancouver's Heritage Harbour looking towards the downtown West End skyline, taken during our first light round of snow. (FYI - the orange/red block you see in the distance (near center of the image) is actually an enormous barge that broke loose in high windstorms a couple of months ago and drifted further into Burrard Inlet getting frighteningly close to the bridge before finally running aground in English Bay where it's been stuck ever since, waiting on the next king tide when they hope to get it back out to sea.)

Taken from Saint-Caprais de Bordeaux (Entre-deux-Mers), in direction south. The river becomes visible upon close-inspection. Image optimised for view on large monitor.

The Esk View Terrace runs from this impressive corner tower, down Cameron Street to the left until we come to Middlesex Terrace. It was built in the late 19th century in the Gothic Revival style. It still makes an imposing edifice on Wellington Street opposite the Art Gallery.

When you walk the Dubrovnik wall, you are regularly presented with views of this nature. Little snippets of the old town and beyond are presented to you in a beautiful stone framework.

I must have sounded like a broken record to Dom, who was standing to my right but all I could say was "Wow" in a mantra-like trance as I stood gazing down at the mines at Botallack. It truly is a bewitching sight to behold. We had hoped for some sunshine but this photo - all 30 seconds - was the only time the sun made an appearance to cast some light far out on the water. Still, no loss as I don't think I could ever get tired of a view like this. Wow, indeed!
