In a small forest, on Grodno Hill (504 m above sea level), there is a hunting lodge built in 1806, named after its owner and founder, Prince Henry's Castle (German: Heinrichsburg).
The construction work took a long time - in 1818 a tower was erected more than 15 metres high with a 77-step staircase leading to the top. Construction was completed in 1841 and the building, topped by a gabled roof, housed the knights' Hunting Hall.
The palace's neo-Gothic form was extremely fashionable at the time, an expression of a sentimental predilection for composing atmospheric places full of poetic symbolism. The creation of the tower was probably due to the jealousy of Henrik von Reuss towards the ancestral Chojnik castle of the Schaffgotschs.
From the top of the tower, there is a breathtaking view of almost the entire Krkonoše range (from Sněžka to Snowy Cirques) and surrounding towns
Looking towards Glen Sligachan from a little way up the Allt Dearg Beag path, with the Red Hills at left, Marsco just right of centre and Nead na h-Iolaire ("the eagle's nest") just further right.
View on Dolomites from the Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo (2,778 m above sea level), taken when we were going back to the cable car station. In the middle of the photo, on the left side you can see the group pf rocks Cinque Torri, where we were the day before (look on the first comment) :)
Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo is a peak located in the Dolomites with a height of 2,778 m above sea level. You can take the cable car from Passo Falzarego up to Lagazuoi and in a you will reach there the mountain hut Rifugio Lagazuoi, with the vewing terrace offering a spectacular view over an array of mountains towards the south and west. From the Rifugio Lagazuoi there is an easy path to the great viewpoint at the top of Piccolo Lagazuoi, where there is a cross that celebrates the victims of the World War I. Here you can admire some of the highest and most stunning Dolomite mountains: Tofana di Rozes, Cinque Torri, Marmolada, Piz Boe and Mount Civetta.

Widok na Dolomity z Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo (2778 m n.p.m.). Fotka pstryknięta gdy schodziliśmy ze szczytu do stacji kolejki. Pośrodku zdjęcia z lewej strony widać grupę skał Cinque Torri, przy której byliśmy dzień wcześniej (fotka w pierwszym komentarzu poniżej) :)
Monte Lagazuoi Piccolo to szczyt leżący w Dolomitach o wysokości 2778 m n.p.m.
Back to Singapore and another photo I overlooked. Taken from the cable car that took us to Sentosa Island. Not long after 'landing' we too were scaling the heights of Merlion by elevator and stairs within this massive structure. It was worth the effort as the views were amazing from the top.
One of the things that amazed me were the amount of ships waiting to berth.
View of Norris Lake from the Dam in November. I was going to tone down the blue of the water because it just looks too unreal, but I didn't touch the water color. It was this brilliant and I was lucky to capture it...
Taken from my neighbour’s window, on my floor. You can see our Recreation building, and some of the trees in our centre court are lit and despite the rain it looks sort of magical.
Point of View is a 2006 landmark public sculpture in bronze by James A. West; it sits in a parklet named for the work of art, Point of View Park, on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh.
The piece depicts George Washington and the Seneca leader Guyasuta, with their weapons down, in a face-to-face meeting in October 1770, when the two men met while Washington was in the area examining land for future settlement along the Ohio River.
The work weighs 750 lbs. and cost $130,000 for materials with charitable donations of land, pedestal and artist time.
Views from Sail 2536ft....looking across to the fells surrounding Buttermere. Very busy for the next few months but will pop-in from time to time.
This photo came from my first night shooting sunset at Mohave Pt. in Grand Canyon National Park, April, 2024. Hopi Pt. is more recommended in travel books but we spent more time here late in the day because (1) you get good 270 degree views as you work around the point (including a ribbon of the Colorado River), and (2) on a practical basis, the shuttle doesn't stop at Hopi on its way back.

Views of Yr Wyddfa taken from Talsarnau village.
Yr Wyddfa [ Snowdon ] is the highest mountain in Wales and England at 1085 metres, located in Eryri National Park.
It is a premier hiking destination attracting over 600,000 visitors annually, with six main challenging routes to the summit.
Known for it's rich ancient geology and mythological significance as the final resting place of the Giant Rhita Gawr.
Markyate, Hertfordshire. Coming from the west and down the hill, you would enter the village here - and, as I said somewhere else, enter into a safe place. Most people appreciate this safety and do not wish to have it disturbed. However, recently the Government has rented a hotel or parts of it about a mile outside the village to accommodate asylum seekers - and this, to some, is a real "disturbance". Rather unpleasant comments have been made on social media which I will not repeat. Fuji X-Pro1 plus XF27/2.8.
