The view from our affordable little hotel in the countryside (with a pool), Hostellerie des Commandeurs.
Another random shot of India at daytime, taken from my car as we were waiting for the traffic jam to reduce itself.
Even though we have been placed in the Dam Neck Naval annex, which is essentially a midgrade hotel I can't complain about our view. This is a wonderful treat considering our situation.
Heartwood Forest is a Woodland Trust wood consisting of 345 Ha (850 acres) of newly planted trees, pockets of ancient woodland and open grassland, and is located on the B651 road between Sandridge and Wheathampstead.
This is one of the views I got to look at every morning from my hotel room. Shimla looks close to Chandigarh on the map, but it's about a five hour drive because the two-lane road is all switchbacks going up into the Himalayan foothills. During the British rule of India, Shimla was the summer capital of India because all the Brit rulers fled here to escape the heat.
