The area in this particular picture is now industrially developed, a car plant of SAIC is in that place - picture has historical value...
So, what would we see, standing here in 2024? Read below:
We are standing right outside the SAIC plant fence, we'd see lots of "MG" branded cars, SAIC produces these "British" cars here for the global market. Right in front of the viewer, beyond the plant fence, is the parking lot for newly produced cars, it is roofed and the roofs are covered with solar panels.
To the left, about where these houses are (beyond that road), are the press shop and the body shop. Right of that, a bit more towards the center, but hidden behind the aforementioned buildings, are the paint shop and final assembly.
If one turns around 180° one would see a huge gravel area covered with oversized car transporter trucks.

Ice pillars formed by the wind blown water around the reed, 2013.
At the north east side of the Houtribdijk an ice field was formed by special weather conditions, containing frozen reed pillars. I have never seen these kind of frozen reed pillars.

Coming back to the musicians of the younger generation, some say few of them play with their heart. Competitions as a way of starting a career in music is devastating. And then there is the rise of recording business where audience would listen with the sheet music on hand ! And then the undue influence of the so-called critiques -- mostly paid one way or the other-- turning music into a money making machine, promoting populism even in classical music. Few musicians nowadays improvise anymore and rubato is a rarity; too many scales and etudes instead. Furtwangler used to interprete music there and then, so every time is different, making music a multi-facet expressive and organic entity. The tradition is gone. The change of modern human relationship, following the rise of metropolitan city life particularly so with the breaking down of families and family ties. Does one need to know life better before he actually knows about arts, the imitation of life ? Making things worse, noisy factories are full steam ahead... All in all, only 3-5 % of the population are still listening to classical music these days, according to numerous surveys! I, nevertheless, find the following players charming:

Line_up 8 pcs paperwork, oilcolor, graphite, transport Box 2014. The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),
oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.
