Video on flickr sucks!

A small gang of pro-unicorn gang vigilantes answered Apatia's call to arms and stormed the Catty Campground in anticorn Harold! Here is rough video from the sparkly trenches! This is what a unicorn war looks like, people! The anticorns were glitter humped until they begged for mercy...

let me just tell you something about me... :)

when i was 13, my mom sent me on a bonding mission to my stepdad 'john' in wales for a few weeks just before they married. john owned a newsagents

and in that newsagents they rented out videos to the local people. vhs video was new and exciting then. massively exciting. dinosaurs may as well have landed in spaceships and taught us how to time travel and live forever. i'm sure most of you remember :)

anyway, a guy used to come round in a normal car with a boot full of vhs tapes and john would choose some for the week to put in the shop.

this was pretty much the most exciting situation i'd EVER been in :)

those little boxes were to me, the equivalent of a dusty attic full of rare books to an antique bookophilecollectorian. each one, no matter what the content, contained a different type of magic. real magic. a shelf of videotapes would hypnotise me in a way nothing else, apart from a plate of sunday dinner or kenny hibbitt in old gold and black running down the wing for my football team 'wolves', would.

anyhows, at night when we shut the shop (sometimes i'd help him serve in there, which i think was probably illegal but fock that cause i'd eat my bodyweight in pineapple chunks and kola cubes and that made me HAP-PEE (if insane)) he'd tell me to choose a few films to take home.

cor, imagine that.

so i'd almost always pick horror movies. hehe.

so, over that period of a few weeks i probably watched 2 or 3 films a day/night. and the memories are still so expletiveing multicoloured vivid to me. with a THORN EMI distribution warning at the beginning of course.

i watched some proper crap. and some proper greats. some real cheap horror movies. but i hoovered them in them like oxygen. shizoid, one dark night, the dead zone, the sentinel, an american werewolf in london, the thing, children shouldn't play with dead things, nightbeast, more more and many more... i DEVOURED them all and now they're part of me to this day. more than can be said of most many since.

anyway, the whole ritual of taking these tapes from these crappy cheap video boxes and putting them into this old fashioned machine...waiting for the warning at the beginning of the tape...correcting the video tracking, then the black screen...watching the old trailers for other soon to be released videos etc...

were some of the happiest times in my life. the most enriching, nourishing times.

there's that great quote by albert camus that says something like (wait, I'll go quote it properly…): here "A man's work is nothing but a slow trek to rediscover,, through the detours of art, those one or two images in whose presence his heart first opened."

and that's precisely how i feel about adulthood. I'm so double glad he wrote that so well and left it for me to read. in so many many different ways i'm just trying to recreate those first moments

because these moments, are my childhood. they are my family.

There were lots of walrus in the water at the haul-out. In this video I isolated two of them.

This is a custom project for one of our customers who needed a live camera to broadcast video inside a LEGO jet. We found the smallest video screen we could and connected it to the smallest camera, and voila! Quite possibly the world's smallest live video broadcast setup!

You wondered what I sounded like, how I move- well, here's a video to demonstrate..

(Yes, my voice is higher than you thought...)

This is undisturbed wilderness far southeast in Norway, close to Swedish border.

I was coming home in yet another bout of snow and this song came on the radio at just the right time, perfect for a Holiday Greeting to all my flickr pals.

My Christmas Wish for you:

If you have to drive in a snowstorm, may you have a big-ass plow to lead you safely home.

The original upload of this video was a little over a year ago.

A little over a year later, here we are, like many, hanging by a thread as we await "the jab" in less than 2 weeks which is a miracle in itself.

We are down but not out, holding on for dear life literally, to what we've got...I think the message is clear!

The photo is the actual site for the end of the movie I located on Google Earth in the state of Texas!

September 16, 2016 - Exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu, Peru.

This video was made for a group on MOCpages called the Lands of Mythron. In this video, the blue soldier is unhappy, but when he joins the side of the pirates, he becomes merry and content once more.

Blockbuster Video outlet in Sunbury still operating in the main shopping area near Woolworths and Big W.

Blockbuster has operated video (later DVD) rental shops in Australia since 1991, with steady growth in the 1990's and early 2000's. The Australian division was sold to local video chain Video Ezy which operated franchise stores under its own name.

Both chains still operate but with steadily shrinking numbers of stores due to the slow and steady impact firstly of cable TV (mid 1990's), and more recently and significantly the internet.

I was down in the Chelmer Valley Nature Reserve today and right next to a woodpile I came across this little bird busily scratching around for food. Took some pics then thought ... why not video! Not amazing footage but I quite like it! In fact I wonder if the D90 is happy taking videos with any but the kit lens ... here I w as using my 70-300mm vr lens!

Wrens are stocky, restless birds that are easily recognised by their rich brown plumage and short cocked tail which they flick repeatedly. The upperparts and flanks have dark barring and the pale eyebrow (supercilium) is prominent. The underparts are paler with grey barring. The bill is brownish and the legs are flesh-brown.

Juveniles look similar to adults but the eyebrow may not be as prominent until they get their adult plumage.

In flight, its wing beats are rapid and it usually flies short distances and in a straight line.

The Wren lives life at a fast, restless pace and it sings this way too - it trembles as it puts everything into its song, which lasts about 5 seconds and usually ends in a trill.

Their alarm call is a loud "teck teck teck".

This is for all the mother's out there who have suffered with a colicky baby. This works wonders!

Sometimes, while railfanning something interesting occurs...I had a childhood flashback. I almost got the empty coffee cup out of the car, took my shoes and socks off and waded into this huge puddle to catch a few...seems wiki says that people keep them as pets now...hmmm an apparent lucrative business opportunity missed to take train pictures....

A tadpole (also called pollywog or porwigle) is the larval stage in the life cycle of an amphibian, particularly that of a frog or toad. They are usually wholly aquatic, though some species have tadpoles that are terrestrial. Wiki

I was at a local Las Vegas' casino outside of the Strip, called Texas Station Casino. While waiting for my mother finish playing her machine, I decided to do a watercolour sketch of the video slots nearby...
