Passing Temple Underground Station to the Embankment for a view of the River Thames, before we got a tube train on the District Line one stop to Embankment, where we changed onto the Bakerloo Line to return to Marylebone.

Temple is a London Underground station located at Victoria Embankment in the City of Westminster, close to its boundary with the City of London. It is on the Circle and District lines between Embankment and Blackfriars, and is in fare zone 1.

The station was opened on 30 May 1870 with the name The Temple, from the Temple area in the vicinity of Temple Church, and from the Inner Temple and the Middle Temple, two of the four Inns of Court of London. The definite article in the name fell out of use quite early.

View of the Houses of Parliament from the river

View of the Victoria Embankment from looking upstream along River Thames towards Westminster Bridge. The Houses of Parliament are silhouetted against the sky. The Embankment and Westminster Bridge are lined with people. Large naval ships are moored near Westminster Pier, and several rowing boats appear to be taking visitors on tours of the ships.

The OXO Tower is a mixed use development on the banks of the Thames at Southwark.

The building was originally constructed as a power station for the Post Office, built towards the end of the 19th century. It was subsequently acquired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company, manufacturers of Oxo beef stock cubes, for conversion into a cold store. The building was largely rebuilt to an Art Deco design by company architect Albert Moore between 1928 and 1929. Much of the original power station was demolished, but the river facing facade was retained and extended.

After plans to demolish the building were resisted by the GLC the site was transfered to the non-profit Coin Street Community Builders for just £750,000, who repaired and restored the building.

Sea Containers House was designed by noted American Modernist architect Warren Platner in 1974 as a luxury hotel.During construction, however, its location near the City of London led to the decision to complete it instead as office space. It opened in 1978 and took its name from the former long-term tenant, Sea Containers.

Behind is South Bank Tower (formerly King's Reach Tower until 2013) is a high-rise building in Stamford Street, Southwark, London. It was originally a thirty-storey structure 111 metres (364 ft) high and was completed in 1972, designed by the architect Richard Seifert and built by John Laing. In recent years, the tower has undergone extensive redevelopment and a height increase.

To the left is One Blackfriars is a mixed-use development at No. 1 Blackfriars Road in Bankside, London. It is informally known as The Vase due its shape. Robert Shiller, a Nobel Prize winning economist, proposed an alternative name as “The Tummy.”

The development is made up of a 52-storey tower of a maximum height of 170 m and two smaller buildings of six and four storeys respectively. Uses include residential flats, a hotel and retail. In addition, a new public space will be created. The site was formerly occupied by the headquarters of Sainsbury's supermarket
