No. 111 (Fighter) Squadron was one of the many squadrons that took part in the Battle of Britain. It was the first squadron to be equipped with the Hawker Hurricane, the work horse of Battle of Britain, mainly due to the fact that there were many more Hurricanes than Spitfires. Currently located at RAF Leuchars in Fife, Scotland, this squadron is soon to be disbanded alongside the decommission of the Panavia Tornado F3 from RAF service, at the end of March 2011.

HMS WELLINGTON began her successful career in the 1930s. Laid down in September 1933 at Devonport Dockyard, launched in May 1934, she entered service in January 1935. Her purpose was as an Imperial Patrol Sloop destined for the New Zealand Station. She was a Grimsby Class Sloop and displaced 990 tons with a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 16 knots. Occasional open days, to view the ship, are now available
