In the gardens on Victoria Embankment.
The climax to the Nottingham Riverside Festival was as always, a rather spectacular fireworks display.
My first attempt at photographing a fireworks display. I found myself huddled in one of the stone refuges on Trent Bridge with a bunch of revellers. It was quite hard to get a decent framing without getting in anyones way so had to make the best of a cramped situation. Overall I think the shoot was quite successfull although we soon became hampered by all the smoke blowing in our direction.

The red brick building was the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police before they moved to a new site near St. James's Park Station.
There were two entrances, one on Victoria Embankment (shown here) and the other just off Whitehall on the far side. New Scotland Yard is the name of the street on the Whitehall side.
Another reference to ex-Tory Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell and his outburst towards a policeman last month, who he described as a "pleb." Mitchell clung onto his job until Friday October 19, 2012, when he resigned. This photo was taken the day after his resignation on the TUC-organised "A Future That Works" march and rally in central London, when the plebs were revolting -- and in significant numbers!

This camel bench, one of many along the Victoria Embankment, is made of cast iron by Berry and Sons and was erected in 1877. Each end features a camel carrying a woolpack and could be themed with Cleopatra's needle which was erected nearby one year later. London. September 2010
Well, almost a month ago I treated myself to a new toy, the EF 17-40mm f/4L, and frustratingly have not had the chance to have a play with it until today. Stopped off for a quick night shoot on the way home tonightso thought I might as well give it a go.
