Original cover art and title design for The Relocated Tourist commissioned by Theme Park Press.
The upcoming book by Amy Falk Peternann centers on her family's move from the Midwestern United Stated to right outside the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Amy shows how they did it, and how anyone else can do it.
The initial description for this cover by Editor Bob McLain had me thinking over different styles and approaches. Nothing I thought of looked fun until I considered the "cartoon retro" style of 1950s television commercials and the short films of UPA animation studio.
Upon the author's approval, this came together nicely in a carefully wonky style and some slight texture to the ocean. The title design also gives the cover a nice bit of pop.

The name ZOGO is come from the chinese Pronunciation
of "èµ°ç‹—"(zou gou) It means Lackey dog.

Done 1 year after the original Who Said What Art Show began, this piece is part of a quartet in which a new style of illustration was explored, making use of a more intricate background.

• [left]: a segment of Henry Holiday's illustration to The Banker's Fate (after his encounter with the Bandersnatch) in Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark (1876) and
• [right]: a horizontally compressed segment of The Image Breakers (1566-1568), an etching by Marcus Gheeraerts the Elder. The resemblance of the "noses" is obvious once you mirror the nose in this image about a horizontal axis.
Reinterpratation of shapes (examples):
• The segment of the spectacle frame is less obvious. Blurr the corresponding segment in Gheeraert's etching and you understand how Henry Holiday worked here (blue box). Another segment of the spectacle frame additionally has been black&white inverted (green box).
• A cross(?) in Gheeraert's etching turns into a rectangular nostril. Holiday kept it rectangular in his illustration (yellow box).
