Essential Climate Variables are the key aspect of the Earth system used to understand and monitor climate change. ESA’s Climate Change Initiative uses satellite observations to create reliable, long-term datasets for 27 of these important variables.
ESA tracks various ECVs from sea surface temperature, greenhouse gas concentrations to land cover changes. These data enable scientists to identify trends, improve predictions of change and better understand climate cycles, feedbacks and tipping points.
Collectively, these records inform decisions to tackle climate change and protect our planet's future.

I loved to step out of our bungalow at Nkupi Lodge (Mpulungu). There was allways something interesting to see!
This beautiful Male Sunbird was busy piercing the tube of the Hibiscus flower to steal the nectar from its base. These dainty little Sunbirds often fall victim to the parasitic Klaa's Cuckoo who choose to lay their eggs in these birds nests.

A total of 90 variable spring supports were designed and manufactured to support pipe lines in a gas storage facility in Abu Dhabi. The pictures above show PTP-4 Double Spring B-Type, PTP-6 Triple Springs B-Type, PTP-1 Triple Springs D-Type, and PTP-4 Double Springs F-Type, (also known as F-Cans). Load capacities range from 1,000 lb. to 45,000 lb., and movements range from 3/8" to 3". A two-layer custom paint was applied over the hot-dip galvanized finish to protect against a severely corrosive environment. Travel stops were chained to the spring can housing, so they can be reused during plant shutdowns. Load and quality assurance tests were performed on all the supports prior to shipment.
