Mummy Vampire Bat is desperate - her son has fallen down a well at Dover Castle! It being Sunday I had a play for Halloween - HSS!

This is a colony, albeit a small one, of Vampire bats. They are exhibited in the nocturnal exhibit so photography is a bit tricky.

I took a brief but well needed break from social media recently.

Happy 2020 everybody!

Love this Little Bat. We love you for so many reasons but the fact you appeared at our back door on Emma's birthday on October 27th, 2017 is truly magical and of course, you are two pets in one, a Cat, and a Bat!

A shot of the cave where George Karaïskakis was born in 1782. The Greek national hero was the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Army since July 1824 until his death on April 23, 1827. The cave is located close to the village Mavrommati in Karditsa County, Greece.

On March 25, 1821 the Revolution started against Ottoman Turkish yoke, so the 25th of March is a national holiday in Greece. The shot of the heroâs birthplace pays homage to this national holiday.

Specifically a blood sucking flying monster called Desmodus , but lucky me it is taxidermied and behind a thick glass :)

My friend Phil Forster is an avid cricket fan and a member of the MCC. After seeing my Sleepwalking pictures, he wanted a portrait in his club pyjamas. Who could refuse an offer like that?

... is my fun entry for this week's "Macro Mondays" group challenge theme of "Halloween". HMM.

Cut-&-paste collage on a business-size envelope, front (above) & back (below). I made 4 in all for a swap partner who likes horror, darkness, usw. (The others were about birds: crows/ravens, black swan & peacock.)

Vampire bat & caption from a 1960s children's natural history book. Round buttons & cemetery monument from wackystuff's fabulous stream. Bone & lithotomy tool from an old surgical textbook. Splat & skull rubber stamps from Meer Image. "Carpe Noctem" rubber stamp from Gorey Details. Plus stickers from Gama-Go, and my own Pisceana artistamp.

I don't know the artists for the splendid long-nailed creature or the baby with chain saw, because they were magazine clippings given to me by another swap partner. If you do, please tell me, so I can give them credit!

Darwin crossed the Andes Mountains, guided by an "arriero". He found fossils of marine creatures at over 4000 meters of altitude, and a petrified forest.

"The condors may oftentimes be seen at a great height, soaring over a certain spot in the most graceful circles. On some ocasions I am sure that they do this only for pleasure, but in others, the Chileno countryman tells you that they are watching a dying animal..."
