This year I completed an MA in Sequential Design & Illustration at the University of Brighton. My swan song was a project that I thought up around July, after crashing and burning with a couple of previous ideas. Research into my projects took me in the direction of animal facts and how flippin' brilliant they were and from there I decided to create a celebration of this.
The final article is a 24 page, double-sided concertina, or pendolino format book. Detailing 46 facts about the animal world that are likely to astound and inform. I decided to separate the facts from the human-world, I wanted them to be amazing on their lonesome without the need to compare them to our many areas of mediocrity.
It was super fun project to sink my teeth into, had to design around 50 animal characters, had a lot of fun with colour and watercolour and created my first really 'sequential' piece of work.
The show is currently on at Brighton University Grand Parade Campus, every day until the end of friday, 10-5. Go and have a look if you're about. Here's the website for the show - www.ma2012.co.uk

Common Vampire Bat .....................................................
Desmodus rotundus Geoffroy, 1810
Orden: Chiroptera .... Familia: Phyllostomidae ... Subfamilia: Desmodontinae

I don't think any of my flickr friends want to see photos of humans interfering with wild animals. The truth is ... we've mucked up our planet to the extent that sometimes baby creatures need a helping hand. I've chosen only photos showing babies in caring, respectful situations; no plastic gloves ... no dirty cages ... onlly gentle helping hands sometimes necessary for survival itself.

BACKSTORY: Ripley's Believe It Or Not! museums kick ass! Definitely worth the ~$13 admission. We spent several hours looking at things and photographing. And no two museums are alike -- I've been to at least 2, possibly 3. Sure, they may have some of the same wall prints and statues, but the actual items are often one-of-a-kind. Find the museum nearest to you with their official museum locator app.
Also, note that I did not repost every one of Vicky & Ryan's pictures. You might want to click through and check out some of their other pictures from the museum as well!

The joint training bolstered communications and interoperability between the two services, which both serve to enhance peace and security throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific Theater. trip to Suriname with shots from Paramaribo, the capital, and in the jungle at Kabalebo Nature Resort on the kabalebo river - an hour plane ride from the capital. some wildlife, some jungle walks, some fishing boats, some history, some colonial buildings. nice country. good time.
Buffy and the Scoobies were on patrol, when oddly enough, every evil thing came out to play in the Sunnydale Cemetery. While Giles and Willow researched the unusual event (taking advantage of the Wi-Fi that Spike had installed in his crypt - he's down there now, on chat roulette), Xander wielded Mr. Pointy. Cordelia was about to listen to her inner voice and turn around before that mummy grabbed her, but would she cheer him to death, or hack him up? Of course, our heroine had her crossbow aimed at the vampire while delivering a brutal back kick to the minotaur. Just another night on the Hellmouth.

This is a Vampire bat! This is part of the reason I had to have 3 rabies injections before travelling.
I encountered this cutie at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in early July 2011. According to the display information, the vampire bat uses its razor-like incisor teeth to slice into the flesh of warm-blooded animals, including man.
