Members of Camoteville label their products. Camoteville is a business made up of 25 smallholder farmers have joined forces to develop and market sweetpotato products. They've learned how to participate in the market and become players in the local value chain through Farmer Business Schools. This model was introduced in the area with generous funding from IFAD. CIP was asked to introduce the model from CIP partner INREMP, a government project focused on conserving local forests, to help people in the community find alternatives to deforestation. Protecting the forest helps create a buffer that mitigates the impact of tropical storms. The women have learned business skills, including production, marketing, and how to participate in value chains. The group has organized their planting schedule so that they always have a fresh harvest of sweetpotato available to fill necessary orders.

This moderately fluid saturated soil flows fairly easily between the fingers when squeezed, indicating it has an n value greater than 1.0. The n value describes the ability of a saturated soil to support a load, such as grazing cattle or small machinery. It considers the percentage of water held under field conditions as well as percentages of silt, sand, clay, and organic
matter in the soil.
