1. the element of art represented in this image is value because of the different shades of white and blue in the sky.
2. the subject matter in this photograph is the sky.
If user wants to reveal a value of some parameter related with menu item he usually clicks this item to open some window with the value in it. But we can display the value right in the menu to help the user reveal it much faster.

This coffee table illustrates value. The dark and light grey patterns show waves on the table. I never noticed until I looked close.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading the Temple of the Seven Golden Camels blog and he talked about the drawing concept of "Silhouette Value". The concept that a character's action should be recognizable from just their silhouette. I decided to set up some photos to compare different poses for "silhouette value." Today I was out shopping at Value Village with my boys. In the store I saw this guy coming and going with racks and bins and stuff. He went into a back room. When he came out I asked him if he could help me with something. I'm sure he thought I was a customer asking where the pottery can be found, but I clarified and let him know that it was "non Value Village related". But then I thought that might sound weird so I again quickly explained the project and gave him my "100 Strangers" card. He replied "I'm liking this". We then looked for a suitable photogenic background and after I looked around I realized that the best we could do is find a thrifty-store type background. Realizing that "thrift store" was the context of the picture anyway, I figured it would fit the 100 Strangers theme well.
Meet Meric. He has lived in Paris Ontario most of his life and moved to Brantford after he was done with high school in Paris. One year ago he moved to Brantford, and has been working in the stock room of Value Village for three months. Meric is also a painter and a drummer. As for the ears; he's been working on it for a year and a half, and apparently that's too short a time and they're "messed up". I sort of had to let him get back to work after that.

Value(s) for Money? Philanthropy as a Catalyst for Social Change (March 6-9, 2014)
Increasing social and environmental challenges, writ globally, are raising the stakes for philanthropy to find "solutions". The deeply complex nature of these challenges, however, defies easy fixes and requires more sophisticated and diffuse systems level approaches. Is the philanthropic sector ready, or capable of meeting critical systemic challenges? Probably not, as seen through the lens of Michael Edwards in a recent think piece entitled 'Beauty and the Beast: Can Money Ever Foster Social Transformation?'.
Innovative funding mechanisms that support social change - like crowd-funding, social impact bonds, payments for eco-system services and prize-backed challenges - have diversified the funding landscape and brought in new resources. The system, however, is arguably out of balance with too much focus placed on revenue-generation, and directing financial resources, through the market. At the same time, less funding is available for the deeper, less tangible drivers of social change - change that is driven by the beneficiaries themselves and is inherently more democratic. Money, while a seemingly essential tool in change processes, can be a "curse", reinforcing or exacerbating the very circumstances and power imbalances at the heart of systemic social challenges.
The objective of this program, in partnership with Hivos, is to shape a new narrative on funding for deep social change that can influence current and future funding trends and global policies.
I took this photo because I was walking home from soccer and I noticed that the sun was starting to set. I saw on the sidewalk that the shadows of the tree were covering the whole thing and that it would be great for value.

I feel like my color choices were successful in creating shape because i chose to stick with a specific base color, green of course.
The reason I chose these colors was because in the process of choosing from over literally hundreds of different colors for different parts of the piece, It would always make me feel uncomfortable with some alien color clashing with the theme of the others.
And so, I chose one color and made different shades of it, I created space by choosing light colors for the front of the piece, and gradually made them darker and darker as they moved back in space.
I had to select a lot of out of place flowers individually and move them back or forward in the piece depending on their color.
Tl:dr I used different shades because different colors looked weird to me, light shades are in the front, darker in the back to create space and a sense of view.
