Fishing like this is relaxing, without swimmers, in inviting waters rich in valuable fish, although the average size of the catch is rather small compared to the river, especially about fishing from the shore.

Along the Mediterranean sea coasts there are many more species of fish than in rivers (about 50 in this area, while in the river we rarely reach 8-10 species in the same stretch) and many are small in size, but this is compensated by the quality of the meat which is high for many of these species, as for all "white fish" (Sea Bream, Sea Bass and Dentex in the lead) even in species that remain small in size (White Bream, Saddled Bream, White Sea Bream, Black Bream...).

Large fish are mainly concentrated in port areas and at the mouths of rivers (brackish water), while along coasts like these they are only passing through.

The Dreisesselberg (Czech Třístoličník) is a 1333 m high mountain in the Bavarian Forest. At the highest point of the Dreisesselberg, called Hochstein, there is a prominent granite rock with a summit cross. Due to bark beetle infestation, large areas of spruce died on the once heavily forested summit area, which still stand on the surface as deadwood and dominate the picture. Emerging natural regeneration, however, is already displacing this deadwood. The summit cliffs with the granites on the Dreisessel are designated as a geoscientifically valuable geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment. From the Dreisesselberg, the Hochkamm mountain range leads over the Bavarian Plöckenstein and across the border triangle of Germany-Austria-Czech Republic (1321 m) to the main summit of the Plöckenstein, which is located on the Austrian-Czech border. This picture was taken on the hiking trail to the border triangle, which is marked with a border stone.

EXPLORE

I am terribly upset right now!!!

I lost hundreds of my favourite songs.

I lost hundreds of my memorable pictures.

I lost hundreds of valuable precedents.

I lost tens of precious video clips.

I permanently LOST my most valued pendrive!

Above all, ALL my flickr pictures- my archives, my pre & post processed pictures, ALL are gone!!

The only ones I have now is those left in my camera, which are my little Singapore shots...

I didnt do any back up & I dont have it stored anywhere as I just returned my office laptop where I stored all these! I transferred it to my pendrive & before I could burn it or save it somewhere else, I lost my pendrive! :(

Moral of the Story:

1. Protect your datas with a password! (this is one consoling thing for me as I did this!)

2. Do a backup of ALL the precious & valuable datas elsewhere

3.Burn the pictures, datas in a CD!!

ps: any consoling words to somewhat ease my aching heart at this mourning time of mine is greatly welcomed!

Honeysuckle is hugely valuable to wildlife, supporting several species, many of which are rare. Butterflies, such as the white admiral (which is in decline), rely specifically on honeysuckle, and it is also prized by bumblebees.

Pollinating moths are attracted to the sweet scent of honeysuckle at night, when it is strongest; and birds, including thrushes, warblers and bullfinches, eat the berries when they ripen in late summer and autumn. Dormice also rely on honeysuckle for both shelter and food. They use honeysuckle bark to build nests for their summer young, but also eat the sweet, nectar-rich flowers as a source of energy.

▶ "Trifolium pratense — commonly known as red clover— is a herbaceous species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae. It is native to Europe, Western Asia, and northwest Africa, but has been naturalized in many other regions, such as North and South America.

Trifolium pratense grows 8 to 31 inches tall (20–80 cm). The flowers are dark pink with a paler base, 0.5 to 0.6 inches long (12–15 mm), produced in a dense inflorescence [cluster of flowers arranged on a stem], attractive to bumblebees.

Tolerant to drought, Trifolium pratense is widely grown as a fodder crop, valued for its nitrogen fixation, which increases soil fertility and promotes protein rich growth, and enables it to support a wide range of wildlife including deer, turkeys, and rabbits. Its flowers and leaves are edible."

Synonyms: Cotoneaster pyracantha. Crataegus pyracantha. Mespilus pyracantha. Scarlet firethorn.

Pyracantha, also known as firethorn or "burning bush" is an evergreen shrub that belongs to the plant family Rosaceae. The word Pyracantha comes from the Greek words Pyros - fire and Acantha - thorn. The name "Burning Bush" is an allusion to the biblical episode recorded in Exodus 3.2.

There are several species including Pyracantha angustifolia, Pyracantha coccinea, Pyracantha fortuneana, and Pyracantha koidzumii (Formosa firethorn or Taiwan firethorn). Although the appearance can differ depending on the species, the shrub typically has shiny evergreen foliage, white flowers, clusters of orange-red berries, and needle-like thorns. The size can range from 5 to 12 feet high and 6 to 8 feet wide. Plant hybrids offer smaller sizes as well as variations in berry color. In addition to year-round interest from the leaves, flowers, and berries, the shrub can be used as a natural barrier because of the dense thorns. The shrubs can be planted close together in lieu of fences and below windows to deter intruders.

Species of Pyracantha are considered to be invasive in portions of the United States, including the states of California and Georgia.

Є кілька видів, включаючи Pyracantha angustifolia, Pyracantha coccinea, Pyracantha fortuneana та Pyracantha koidzumii (Formosa firethorn or Taiwan firethorn).

The berries and thorns are the parts of the shrub most likely to be involved in a potentially poisonous exposure.

The fruit of Pyracantha are classified as pomes. The pulp is safe for human consumption, but it is insipid, and the seeds are mildly poisonous as they contain cyanogenic glycosides (as do apples, plums, cherries, and almonds). Seeds that are chewed and crushed while raw will release cyanogenic glycosides, and can cause mild gastro-intestinal problems when eaten in large enough quantities. The fruits persist significantly into winter which makes them a valuable bird food.

The fruit is bitter and astringent, making it inedible when raw. The fruit can be cooked to make jellies, jams, sauces and marmalade. It ranges from southern Europe to western Asia. It has been introduced to North America and cultivated there as an ornamental plant since the 18th century.

Pyracantha coccinea —

The estate of Prince Kurakin, one of the oldest and most important families of Russia, was built in the XVIII century prince. He raised with the help of their peasants palace and park ensemble "Nadezhdino" on the river Serdoba, temples in honor of Alexander Nevsky and St. Nicholas. The land on which the estate was restored, were donated to him by Peter I in 1700 "for services to the King and Fatherland."In his three-storey palace was a beautiful garden in the English style area of 100 hectares, planted with maples, lindens, oaks and fruit trees. In the XIX century in the state rooms of the palace contains valuable artifacts of bronze objects, Bohemian glass, French porcelain, vases and other items, but later valuable collections were destroyed by fires in 1905 and 1927. After the restoration of the building wing of the palace is still in ruins until now. The Estate is situated Near Kurakino Village, Serdobsk Ditrict, Penza Region, Russia.

Artistic certainly not valuable, but should have helped already ;-)

For years, the doll hangs in my office and the older I get, the more I consider to give it a try ;-)

Your comments are valuable to me.

I don't know exactly why I took a photo of this as I don't really enjoy still lives or documenting them but there was something that drew me to this one as something so Czechian as this pile of wooden bits, trapped between window and door, dead but not dead of symbolism...ready to be burnt but also relished. I don't know, it called out to me.

And, there's something magnificent about a desolate Pyramid in Prague that you make with your hands and hope it doesn't slide or fall. And you leave it out to the elements and you leave it out to the thieves even though it's valuable.

"The Bosque" refers to a cottonwood forest that borders the Rio Grande. A Bosque's habitat is both unique and diminishing. It’s known as “the Bosque,” which means “woods” or “forest” in Spanish. Its riparian forests provide an oasis of valuable resources for animals and plants living in an otherwise arid Southwest habitat.

However, this is not a photograph of "The Bosque. This bosque is located along the shores of the fledgling Jemez River that follows NM Highway 4. and is a tributary to the Rio Grande. The East Fork Jemez is a National Wild and Scenic River. Several tributaries feed it, some of which drain the Valles Caldera.

The Jaguar XKSS is a road-going version of the Jaguar D-Type racing car, initially built in 1957. Only 16 were built and sold at the time.[1] Nine chassis were destroyed in a factory fire in 1957 before they could be completed. In 2016 Jaguar announced that a small production run of nine "continuation" XKSS reproductions would be hand-built to the original specifications to complete the originally scheduled run of 25.[2]

History

Following Jaguar's withdrawal from competition at the end of the 1956 season, a number of completed and partly completed[citation needed] D-types remained unsold at the Browns Lane factory. In an attempt to recoup some of the investment made in building unused chassis, and to exploit the lucrative American market for high-performance European sports cars, Sir William Lyons decided to convert a number of them to road-going specification. Structural changes would include the removal of the bulkhead creating a single driver's cockpit, elimination of the large fin behind the driver, and addition of a passenger side door. In addition, numerous changes were required to be made for cosmetic, comfort and legal reasons to turn a basic D-type, a race car design, into a street-legal passenger car. These included creating a full two-abreast interior; adding a full-width, chrome-surrounded windscreen; adding sidescreens to both driver and passenger doors; creating a rudimentary, folding, fabric roof; adding chromed front and rear bumpers; and mounting XK140 rear light clusters high on the wings; and adding thin chrome strips to the edges of the front light fairings.

By early 1957 a total of 16 of the planned production run of 25 XKSS's had been completed at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant. On the evening of 12 February a fire broke out, destroying the remaining nine in mid-production.[citation needed] All of the destroyed vehicles had been destined for North America.[1] Most of the previously built 16 XKSSs were also sold in the US.[citation needed]

In March 2016, Jaguar announced that it would be completing the original 25 car order by hand-building the remaining nine XKSS roadsters to the exact original specification, and assigning them the chassis numbers of the destroyed cars. The "continuation" reproductions were expected to sell for more than £1 million each.

Collectors

The American actor Steve McQueen owned a Jaguar XKSS for personal use, painted British racing green. He referred to the car as the "Green Rat".[4][5] In 2010 and 2011 it toured the United States as part of the "Allure of the Automobile" exhibit. Steve McQueen's XKSS is currently on display in Los Angeles, California at the Petersen Automotive Museum.[6]

Another XKSS, along with a D-type and C-type, formed the pinnacle of the James Hull collection, a collection of 450 British cars sold for an estimated £100 million in 2014.[7] Other XKSS include XKSS 722 at the Louwman Museum in The Hague....Wikipedia

In 1264, the Yitian Hall was built within Beijing’s imperial Round City, a garden next to, but independent of, the famous Beihai Park, and not far from the Forbidden City. It was renamed Hall of Receiving Brilliance in 1417 during the Ming Dynasty.

The Hall of Receiving Brilliance collapsed during an earthquake in 1669, but was rebuilt in 1690 and expanded in 1746 to its current size. A white jade Buddha statue is enshrined in it. In 1900, the Round City was damaged by the invading troops of the Eight-Power Allied Forces as they suppressed the Boxer Rebellion. The Yanxiang Gate Tower was destroyed, the left arm of the white jade Buddha statue was damaged; all the other valuable cultural relics were looted.

After the founding of the People 's Republic of China, the Round City was rebuilt. In 1961, both the Round City and Beihai Park were listed by the State Council as Key National Cultural Heritage Sites.

The Round City occupies an area of 4,500 square meters, surrounded by a 4.6-meter high and 276-meter long city wall.

Technical methods to conserve water :

Rainwater Harvesting :

Rainwater harvesting is the gathering and collection of water from the rooftop. The traditional method of rain water harvesting is the most effective and simple way to conserve the water. It means utilization of rain water for the domestic as well as agricultural purposes. There are three technical methods of rain water harvesting such as Catchment, Conveyance and storage.

Historical Water Bodies :

There are many traditional water bodies which have been in disuse for the longer time. These bodies can be reused as the recharging points.

Ponds :

Steps should be taken to avoid dumping of sewage into the village ponds. Efforts need to be made to deepen these ponds with the dragline machines. Garbage and other waste sholud not be dumped into the ponds.

“People must feel that the natural world is important and valuable and beautiful and wonderful and an amazement and a pleasure.” David Attenborough.

I will never forget the first time I drove up the winding road that climbs up from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Passo Giau. Despite having seen many photographs of this mountain pass over the years, there will never be an image that can transmit all the spectacular beauty of this place. From up there, everywhere we look, 360 degrees around us, impressive mountains stretch as far as the eye can see, evoking a sense of awe, which at least I am unable to adequately express in words.

Regarding the image that I show here of the most photographed area of Passo Giau, I was not lucky enough to have interesting light at sunset, so I opted to wait for the blue hour to include the trails of some of the cars that were still crossing it. Probably the occupants of those vehicles were reacting as we did, enjoying with amazement the natural spectacle that opened before them.

In the twilight of an era - A traditional Norwegian jekt carrying stockfish from the Nordland region in 1903. My restoration and colorization of Th. Iversen´s image in the Norsk Folkemuseum archive.

The Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum in Bodø tells the story of the jekt trade, which died off in the end of the 19th century when steamers and the Coastal Express entered the scene:

"In the past, jekts (cargo sailboats) loaded with stockfish were more valuable to Norway than oil is today. The Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum in Bodø presents the last of the Nordland jekts, the Anna Karoline (not the ship shown in the photo here. FH), and tells the story of the stockfish export trade."

"200–300 years ago, more than 200 jekts delivered stockfish to Bergen over the summer season. Some even made several trips. This was a real lifesaver for the country’s economy. It is believed that more than 3000 jekts were built, but only one remains here in Northern Norway." --

"With a light load, the journey from Salten and Helgeland to Bergen took three to six days, and up to a fortnight was considered quick and easy. However, it was not unusual to spend a month or two en route, and the ship was too late in leaving Bergen in the autumn, crews would sometimes have to spend the winter in a calm fjord somewhere along the way. Sailing south, the ship would be heavily loaded with stockfish. The fish was often stacked in layers up along the mast, even. The jekts were not built to be agile sailers; they were built to carry as much freight as possible. This made life on board a cold, wet and often nauseating experience."

After 6 months of careful planning and nurturing, onion plants produce flowers that are ready for pollination and seed production. These highly valuable vegetable seeds are produced in remote areas of Bangladesh and are mostly destined for overseas markets.

This photograph shows my mother at the moment she is receiving a valuable gift from the teaching staff of the school she graduated from with a ‘gold medal’ (this medal was awarded to students who had the highest grades on their report cards and passed their final exams with distinction.

Of course, it was only called gold — in reality it was made of some inexpensive metal). The gift was a book, namely ‘The Small Geographical Atlas of the World’, with an appropriate dedication inscription. This book and the medal are still kept in our family to this day.

In the USSR, there was an 8-year or 10-year school system. After the 8th grade, a student could already enter a vocational school or a technical college. If they completed 10 grades, they could apply to an institute or a university.

Children in USSR started first grade at the age of 7. In independent Ukraine, children began going to school at the age of 6, and the length of schooling was extended to 11 years. Currently, there is a transition to a 12-year system, which, in my opinion, is absurd.

I was also intrigued by the stern-looking woman in the background. She didn’t seem particularly happy about my mother receiving the award. Perhaps her son or daughter was not as successful and did not receive a gift. Overall, her face and style of clothing contrast strongly with my mother’s image. This is a kind of symbolic contrast between the harsh, totalitarian past of the Stalinist era — times of fear, war and famine — and the period in which my parents’ generation was already growing up.

The boy—a drummer wearing a Pioneer cap—seems to have wanted a book like that as well. Good, high-quality books were in short supply in the USSR, and you couldn’t simply buy them in a bookstore.

At the moment, Kyiv is experiencing partial blackouts. We are given electricity for 3.5–4 hours, followed by 6–7 hours without power. Sometimes I only have electricity for 3 hours during the day, and the rest comes late at night. Outside my window now there is complete darkness; the streetlights are not working. There is strong wind, almost storm-like.

In 45 minutes the power will be cut off, likely until morning. But I decided to dedicate this window of time specifically to restoring this photograph. I managed to do it and am sharing the result with you. When possible, I will try to respond to your comments and return the stars. I wish all good people kindness and peace.

A famous wildlife photographer taught me a valuable lesson a couple of years ago – know the behavior of your subject so you can anticipate where it will go and what it will do. Last fall I had the opportunity to put this advice into practice. I was in Rocky Mountain National Park during the fall rut. It had been an awesome morning and I was looking for additional bull elk to photograph. As I scoured the horizon, I heard a bull bugling off in the distance. I continued to watch and saw he was walking with a purpose towards where I was standing. A small hill separated him from the open meadow where other bulls were vying for the attention of the many cows that were there. If he continued on the same path, he would come up the rise of the hill and emerge with fir trees in the background. I continued to wait, and he disappeared behind the hill. There were other photographers nearby but none were standing where I was and none were looking in the same direction. Would he continue up the ridge or would he head in a different direction? After about five minutes my patience paid off and he came up the rise just where I was hoping he would. Had I ignored the photographer’s advice I would not have gotten this image. The bull came up the hill, gave me many fine shots and an encounter that is seared in my memory. Thanks for sharing your wisdom, Moose!

Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

Gorgier, Switzerland

The Gorgier bathhouse built on stilts is a valuable architectural and historical witness.

By its typology, it reflects the concept of bathing at the time (men's cabin / women's cabin) and the taste for a certain exoticism (pagoda).

Located between Silverton and Ouray along the “Million Dollar Highway”, is the Red Mountain Mining District, which was the site of a historic silver boom from 1882 until 1893. In the beginning, only low-grade discoveries were made in the first few years of mining activity. However, valuable columns of silver ore called “pipes” were discovered in and mining quickly began. When John Robinson discovered the fabulously rich Yankee Girl Mine in 1882, the rush was on to Colorado’s newest mining district.

The St. Anna Chapel is a one-nave, provincial baroque cemetery chapel, with a semicircular sanctuary, a steep hussar tower, an elevated facade with an eared timpan, eight tombs beneath it. The highest point of the cemetery was built by János Kállay, Regional Table President in 1774, and dedicated to the sacred cross. In the 1932 confiscation cemetery, valuable tombstones can be found and the tomb of Menyhért Reviczky.

Graciously Giving Gratitude, Breathtaking Blissful Backyard Dramatic Dusk Dinner Stunning Seaside Scene - IMRAN™

(3D on FB) (My 137th Flickr Explore!)

I mentioned this to colleagues at the end of great team meeting this afternoon, “Gratitude Is Key.”

Appreciating everything with gratitude-filled hearts and grateful souls. That is what makes even a daily “routine” thing become a priceless moment, a precious memory.

Even having a quickly assembled fajita for dinner in the kitchen with this “routine” seaside dusk in the backyard is a “once in a lifetime” experience, with the right attitude. That makes this kind of an experience become far more valuable than even a fancy dinner within the walls of some expensive restaurant.

All it takes is looking up, looking out, looking around, and being grateful. Gratitude is key — for every blessing, every bite, every minute, every breath, everything, every family member, everyone who gives me love openly or trying to keep it secret even from me. I am. Grateful. Beyond words.

What are you grateful for?
