BECOMING - office for visual communication
30 Days of Perception - Day 6
"Movement through gesture is a form of communication.
All phenomena are animate and expressive."
Kim Manley-Ort
As we express ourselves through gesture, movement and body language, so do all living things, including plants.
I cut a small branch of ivy to put in a vase to illustrate how the graceful movements suggest body language. I notice how the tiny new branches take directions of their own away from the main stem and how each leaf has its own personal expression. When I observe the movement of the branch, I enter into communication with the way it expresses itself. It's as if I can feel a movement and sway.
I'd like to share this panorama today to try and have a small break from some haunting images of Syrian refugees that I cannot get out of my head. The sunrise in this little village of Jamnik, Slovenia was mesmeraising and I hope it can provide a little rest to your thoughts.

"Sometimes you find yourself trying to let go of something
But it's like, you have been swimming on the ocean for a very very long time
And you feel like you belong there
You are one with the waves
The warmth of the water
And your body moves in sync with the ocean
And you swim around just trying to stay afloat
Then you get tired and you start to drown
And you swim back to land
When you get there you just feel so heavy because you lost touch with gravity for so long
And you collapse on the beach as you try to find balance again
And then your feet finds gravity
You stand up and you look at the horizon one last time
And you just know that no matter how beautiful the sea was
And how good it made you feel
It was never yours to keep
And somedays you'll miss it, you know
And you feel yourself moving with the waves and you dream of diving in
Then you realize your feet was meant for land
And not cut out for the ocean
Maybe you're meant to climb trees, or hike hills, or just run really fast
Letting go is not easy
There's nothing quite like swimming in the ocean
Just like how it's natural for your feet to find gravity
It's natural for you to let go
And find your true purpose in life again
The sea is the sea
And you are just you
I have to let go
But sometimes I find myself waking up at the beach again."

video dazu:
A visual dialogue between eras in the heart of the Eternal City.
This frame captures a young man on an electric scooter passing in front of a modern corten steel installation.
The perforated "ROMA" lettering acts as a contemporary filter, while the historic domes of the churches of Santa Maria di Loreto and Santissimo Nome di Maria rise majestically in the background.
This shot is a testament to the "human comedy" on the stage of daily life, where ancient architecture and modern urban mobility coexist under the dramatic Roman sky.
Documented during my ongoing exploration of Rome's street and documentary photography.

“So, I said, when does the enchantment start? We were sitting side by side, facing the mountains. "It started when the earth was born." Her eyes were closed. Her face was golden in the setting sun. "It never stops. It is, always. It's just here.”
― Jerry Spinelli, Stargirl
As I told you before and in the last post , I do everyday one little illustration . Here you can see the starlings I saw today in front of my window, some flowers and that yellow girl is my vision of Amanda Gorman, the United States' first-ever youth poet laureate. She recited a powerful poem at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Here are some of her words.:
"When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid,
the new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light,
if only we're brave enough to see it.
If only we're brave enough to be it."
I love that message of hope.
thank you www.flickr.com/photos/colorfulexpressions/ for making me pay attention to this moment.
Composition in art is essentially the arrangement of visual elements ... Tone: Tone is essentially a color which is not a pure hue, white or black.
These are the ones! 6200 photo submissions to the OC Visual Arts Competition. I entered only a few this year because I traveled less due to moving, and some personal fitness goals. Feeling so privileged that these three made the cut . Can't wait to complete my 2016 photography / travel goals 😃
These pages are made from scraps on my work table. The
challenge was to make order from waste -- & not throw away even the smallest scrap.
