The Vista House was built in 1918 as a rest stop along the Columbia River Highway. It was designed by Edgar Lazarus and features a marble interior. It cost $93,000, about 25 times the original budget, and at the time it was derided as a "$100,000 outhouse." Definitely worth a stop. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vista_House
