When Venus shines in the night sky, she eclipses all other lights with her incomparable beauty
A walk on Gress Beach, bathed in moonlight, with Venus setting in the west, the sound of the waves crashing on the reef out in the bay, the song of the grey seals, the cry of a lone seabird flying home to roost - a perfect way to end the day, and a cosy bed with some hot chocolate waiting at Mill View.
With Venus shinning bright and the last of the colour that was .. it was time to head home.

Two frames raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 8 stacked and bended in ON1 Photo Raw 2024.5, colour graded in Nik 7 Viveza and Color Efex and finished off backin PhotoLab.

The planet Venus shines brightly in the skies over South Falls, Silver Falls State Park, Oregon, on a freezing autumn morning.

I had shot a similar composition over three years ago. I'd never quite been happy with that old photo, which was extremely dark and had some problems with the light painting techniques I'd used. This is a really challenging place to shoot for various reasons, but I feel like I made significant improvements on that old image.

This image is composed from a UV capture and an IR capture. In processing, IR was mapped to the red channel, IR/UV (50/50) was mapped to the green channel, and UV was mapped to the Blue channel.
I believe that the red and bluish areas represent actual cloud details.

I read that Venus and Jupiter were converging, so I had to go out and take a look since it's such a clear night. It's very cool to see them so close.
The Townley Venus is a 2.14 m (7 ft) high 1st or 2nd century AD Roman sculpture in Proconnesian marble of the goddess Venus, from the collection of Charles Towneley, as on display in British Museum, London.
Charles Townley/Towneley (1737-1805) was a wealthy English country gentleman, antiquary and collector, whose collection counts some 300 items in the British Museum.
