I am completely and utterly in love with this camera!!! Wow, what a step up from the 40D. Needless to say, this was my favorite shoot up to date. Not only because of my first experience with the 5D mark II, but also, because this little beauty cooperated so beautifully with all of our ideas. Definitely one of my faves!!! So watch out, there will be an overload from this session. ;)
An utterly delighted seascape adventure welcome by moving bubbles and waves in sunset. As always, thank you for the comments and/or faves.
i am utterly in love in with the color of these beautiful ranunculus. my guess they will be a regular appearance in my 365 photos for a bit. ;)
This utterly extraordinary suspended art installation measures seven metres in diameter and features detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface. For a few weeks it was at Teddington’s Landmark Arts Centre in west London, and the venue could hardly have been more fitting: the Landmark was once a cathedral-sized Gothic church and its vast interior space is perfect for an installation like this.
In Greek mythology, Gaia is the personification of the Earth. The slowly revolving installation was created by Luke Jerram, a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, in partnership with the National Environment Research Council and the UK Association of Science and Discovery.

No dawn/dusk magic here, I'm afraid; just some context illustrating Garbh Bheinn's position overlooking Loch Linnhe & the the hamlet of Clovullin (by Corran).
In fact, I risk utterly destroying the mystique of the other two recent Garbh Bheinn uploads by offering this one!
Taken from much lower down Beinn na Gucaig, I was barely 500 feet above the water, here.
The weather is utterly rotten in the UK at the moment, as many of you will know, so no new images I'm afraid. This was taken at Hauxley earlier in the year. Any feedback as regards the processing of this image is more than welcome as I'm still getting to grips with upgrading to Lightroom CC with all its knobs and whistles.
Another utterly beautiful scene from my latest adventure.
I hope you can enjoy and wishing you all a wonderful start in the new year ! Best wishes
I am utterly in love with this house, and I can't imagine it surviving another winter.
I'd like to shoot it again with this emulsion. I likely will.

Thanks so much for your patience with me, my friends! I'm getting to a few of you each day. I wish it could be more! HSS!
I’m utterly moved by this scene from this mystical alley in the Mississippi District. So much weird tragedy that will haunt me, The Rest In Peace jar, the roses, the fire tape, the Ford T-bird, the Sprite bottle, the ribbons, the Virgin Mary. Ghosts, for sure.

The irony of this composition is utterly personal . . . I'm standing on the grounds of the Eau Claire City Hall at the periphery of the Tea Party . . . looking at one the the government operations that I enthusiastically support, the public library, viewed through an evil bank's drive-up . . . I couldn't be any more conflicted! lol

I found Flickr's handling of last year's spam attack utterly inadequate to the point of terminating my pro membership.
Apparently, although all my work is Creative Commons licensed, I'm still limited to 1000 items and uploads are now "locked".
So that's over a decade's work, and the longest-standing social networking site I know, come to an end.

Hehe I utterly love the colour pink. I adore it but lately I haven't been wearing it as much as I would like to, of course my hair always has a pink dip dye/pink fade. So here is a pink over dose for you *giggles*
Some utterly beautiful woodland - west-coast birch and oak forestry on the way from carpark to Aoineadh Mor.

La Sainte-Chapelle :(French for The Holy Chapel) is a Gothic chapel on the Ile de la Cité in the heart of Paris, France. It is perhaps the high point of the full tide of the rayonnante period of Gothic architecture.
It was planned in 1241, started in 1246 and quickly completed: it was consecrated on April 26, 1248. The patron was the very devout Louis IX of France, who constructed it as a chapel for the royal palace.[1] The palace itself has otherwise utterly disappeared, leaving the Sainte Chapelle all but surrounded by the Palais de Justice, which carries on a single function of the palace, which was the site of the king's lit de justice where important aristocrats pled their cases before the king.
The Sainte Chapelle was built to house precious relics: Christ's crown of thorns, the Image of Edessa and twenty other relics of Christ had been in Louis' hands since August 1239, when it arrived from Venice in the hands of two Dominican friars
The Royal chapel stands squarely upon a lower chapel which served as parish church for all the inhabitants of the palace, which was the seat of government (see "palace"). The king was later granted sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Louis.
The upper chapel: Picture will be send later

Utterly EPIC morning on Holme Fell, Lake District. Had the place to myself and spent a good couple of hours trying to get close to something that represented the sheer majesty of the view.
This is a 6 shot pano (portrait shots) with the rather marvellous Nikkor 200mm f4 (vintage £40 lens)
I think I'm pretty pleased with this one!
Thanks for looking.

"Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." •
Sometimes someone walks into your life and everything just works; it's effortless, organic and right from the very first exchange - making it obvious why everything and everyone else didn't work.
From day one you've made me smile, laugh until I cry, my heart flutter and given me the freedom to be myself, always. I craved your Dominace the moment I felt it's embrace, and I am forever grateful and happy that we're on this journey together.

This was a lot of fun to work on! Sascha and I love the greek classics and really vibed with the story of Achilles and Patroclus. We wanted to convey a concept of love and adoration that seems to freeze the world and stand the test of time. Something that seemed chaotic and serene all at once.

An utterly gorgeous, breath-takingly beautiful Licca by Licca Castle, with natural makeup and chocolate brown hair that feels like real hair in its silkiness and thinness. She's one of those dolls that's even more beautiful in real-life, I'm speechless. A little Venus of a doll! ♥___♥ OMG!
Yes, I just might call her Venus, the name suits her looks and she'd take it as a huge compliment. :D *Licca flips hair and bats eyelashes* And she does look like she belongs in a painting!
An utterly adorable (well, in my opinion anyway) alpaca, curiously and rather nervously watching me from under it's fringe. I want one of these alpacas, they were soo cute, rather shy but with the sweetest expression, LOL I wonder what Barney would think of them?
I took this today, at the big Three Counties Show, which is just down the road from our house. We had a fantastic time, I always love going to country shows, today we saw all sorts of things: agility, livestock showing, horses, and many, many cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and these guys, the alpacas (my favourites!). I hope you're all having a great weekend too!

A recent trip to Wales and, luckily, just as we drove into Powys the sun was setting, water was evaporating off the road and the place was utterly deserted (bar the odd sheep). A magical welcome indeed.
I have not been out to this waterfall in way too long a period of time. This is Wahclella Falls in the Columbia River Gorge, to this day still my favorite waterfall. Not because of its size or scale, in this case I think it is location, location, location. It is just far enough off the beaten path to remain somewhat secluded. The falls is situated in an amazing little cul-de-sac of the valley that has an almost time-forgot-this-place feel to it.
This has always been a problem image for me though, it has both elements I really like and really dislike. For one, I love the lushness of the moss on the rocks. Their color and vibrancy always strike me and remind me what a magnificent place this constantly damp state is. Unfortunately the light itself was not the best the day I took this with my pinhole and the falls themselves were a bit unevenly lit. I liked how the light was illuminating the spray at the bottom was being lit up, but I composed a bit poorly and it cuts into the edge of the frame. This has always bugged me about this shot. Generally speaking you never want to put such a visually interesting element, or any element for that matter, on the edge of the frame. The eye is drawn to it, and right out of the picture. This an important technique to remember when composing a photo. Always check your edges and corners for intruding elements. Never provide the viewer's eye with a path out of the picture.
Anyway, I always loved and hated the print of this shot for those reasons. A little bit ago I was going through and scanning a bunch of my negatives and decided to revisit this one. To make a long story short, the scan of this image gave me less cropping than the print had. It still is not a perfect composition, but it is better. I still love the mossy rocks and the slate bue gray of the water. And the memories, those are always valuable. I really need to get back out to this waterfall. Well that is what January is for. ;-)

With lingering love she gazed at the dispersed
Colors of dusk. It pleased her utterly
To lose herself in the complex melody
Or in the cunous life to be found in verse.
lt was not the primal red but rather grays
That spun the fine thread of her destiny,
For the nicest distinctions and all spent
In waverings, ambiguities, delays.
Lacking the nerve to tread this treacherous
Labyrinth, she looked in on, whom without,
The shapes, the turbulence, the striving rout,
(Like the other lady of the looking glass.)
The gods that dwell too far away for prayer
Abandoned her to the final tiger, Fire.

A collaboration with the utterly epic April-lea for night 1 of Roid Week 2013! Check out the Roid Week pool if you haven't already!
When not shooting Polaroids, I write children's & YA fiction. I've been working on a new book for the last 7 years, an epic space adventure for all ages, illustrated by my all-time favourite artist, Dave McKean. It's published on August 1st - if you want to know more, there's some info here and a trailer here!
Utterly unmistakable orange bird with a zebra-striped wings, a Chinese fan of a crest (usually held closed, but often raised just after landing), and a rapier of a bill. Favors semiopen habitats such as heathland, farmland, orchards, grassy lawns, where it feeds on the ground, probing with its long bill for insects. Flight fast and fairly direct, with rather deep wingbeats. Unlikely to be confused, but flight pattern and round wings may loosely resemble that of woodpeckers; note far longer and thinner bill. eBird
An utterly naff one to start today... I'm hoping I may have the chance to take something much better but we are off to a wedding soon and its been a manic morning.
So, at least I now have a pic for 'dance' for the Scavenger Hunt.
Small., hard to find., and utterly gorgeous! Those big quizzical eyes making every minute of the search worthwhile. He's exactly the cuddly 'toy' all the kids want to find under the tree at Christmas! We had never been lucky enough to see one before so for us quite a big event. And no we did not succumb to a specialized photographic hide., he really is a Little Owl found up a tree
I was utterly thrilled to see this wonderful P1 in person in Paris ! It is so beautiful, there are no words to describe this car.
Approaching Smethwick Junction Signal Box on an utterly miserable Sunday morning is 37225 with a freight train diverted from the Lickey route which was closed for engineering work. The signal man warned us it was coming and said it was a Bescot to Severn Tunnel Junction.
Today the old closed station of Smethwick West is approached via this ramp but in 1979 the correct way was through the road level booking office. Of course the signal box has now gone, all Stourbridge trains would have come through the tunnel and started at Birmingham New Street. Today they emerge from the line to the left having stopped at the new Galton Bridge station, this is now the Jewellery Line and for the core of the route (Tyseley to Stourbridge Junction) it has a 10 minute service.
37225 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry as D6925, it was delivered new to 87E Landore depot 07/02/1964. it was withdrawn 28/02/2004 and cut by C.F. Booth at Rotherham 10/06/2004.
This picture has never been printed, I took 2 frames and prefered the second with the loco passing the signal box today I would have taken this version as my favourite.

I took this photo for our Christmas cards, however I am heartbroken to tell you that before dawn this morning Coco was hit by a truck & killed. We are just devastated. She added such joy to our family. I can't tell you how utterly heart sick I am right now. We had just had the talk about ALWAYS having her on a leash, & the fence was on order, but to no avail. I also realize I have much to be thankful for, but this still hurts alot. I know Flickr is a happy place, and I don't mean to bring anyone down. I just wanted to post this as a last tribute to my sweet beloved pup, Coco.
I've been utterly inspired by PinaColada recently and the shot that I always come back to is her 'Bye Bye Red, Hello Black' one.
I loved playing with the inks today, interesting how different colours 'move' through the water so differently.
I love the contrasts in this and the dimension the blue ink adds.
Only processing I have done is upped the exposure a little and a square crop.
The utterly exquisite chlorophyll-lacking form of the (beautiful in its own right) violet helleborine. The books say that lacking chlorophyll it cannot photosynthesise, but I suspect that some of the red pigments that presumably contribute to the pink colouration must be carotenoids or similar, and therefore capable of photosynthesis. This would make sense given the greenish light on the forest floor, although much of its nutrition is undoubtedly provided willingly or otherwise by symbiotically-associated fungi. The location was very kindly supplied confidentially by an anonymous provider!
