Jökulsárlón sits south of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier. Huge blocks of ice calve from the glacier and those icebergs float into a lagoon ("Glacier Lagoon"). From there they keep floating towards the Atlantic Ocean, where some of them get washed ashore and sparkle on the black beach like diamonds, after having been polished by the waves. Thus, the beach designation: Diamond Beach.
This photo was taken at sunrise, on a glorious day, with beautiful weather. When I've arrived to the beach a couple of hours before sunrise, seals were easily seen in the water, looking for their morning's meal... And when the sun rose in the sky, well, the least we can say is that it was monumental! This place is utterly beautiful and will remain always in my memories as being the most extraordinary spot I've been in a marvellous trip to Iceland.

Very early start was rewarded by wonderful atmospheric misty autumnal calm towards the Buttermere Sentinels.
This image was taken about 10 minutes before my previous image where the mist had almost gone - this image shows the mist beginning to evaporate around the "Buttermere Sentinels" ( the row of Scots Pines). A magical morning.

An utterly idyllic setting for a farm in North Iceland we passed by on our way to Siglufjordur. The fjords of Iceland's Northern coast all still wore a heavy coat of snow and ice when we cruised there in May, but the Spring sunshine would add wonderful light and colour to the scenes.
The most difficult adventure for each of us is to go through the storms we carry inside ...

Utterly amazed, the tree looks at us humans in this late november.
Have they gone mad?
Hopefully better times will come soon.
Utterly amazing mountains of fantastic shapes and textures gracing the Southeast Icelandic landscape between Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and the city of Hofn.
I was utterly amazed at noticing this homestead and farm in Southeast Iceland, being situated right in front of a mighty glacier tongue descending from Breiðamerkurjökull glacier if my map orientation is right. Anyway, to choose such location for your farm speaks of guts and bravery :)

Skogafoss, one of the most iconic locations in Iceland ... It was a mesmerizing place, hard to photograph in some ways because of the crowds of people, the knowledge that countless photos have been taken at this location and so how do you do something different, and yet it was utterly breathtaking and fascinating! I could have stood there for hours ... As you get closer and closer to this immense waterfall you are drenched in spray, it's like being in a downpour. .... I chose to process this in b&w as that's how I see this place, even though the colors were beautiful, in fact you can see the faint arch of the rainbow if you look closely ... Needless to say I am not entirely satisfied with my photos from here and need to go back!
Beautifully pristine beach on the Lofoten islands near Leknes. Such beauty, calm and solitude are utterly restorative for mind and body :)

Be you saint or sinner there's some utterly fab items out for the roleplayer right now. I'm kinda obsessed with these wings by Aii which I can't resist wearing every so often, but then once you try a demo you'll see why too, the quality is top notch. There's a hella lot of eyes here which is pretty much one of the oldest forms of symbolism still in active use and once representing either good luck or the gods keeping a beady eye on you. Find these items at the Enchantment event, Cyber Punk event and at main stores now.

Beautiful piecing eyes. Fabulous to see., The Short eared owl most regularly seen flying about in early morning or late afternoon., it's always a wildlife photographer's delight to to see one of these. This picture taken at Bempton Cliff's in Yorkshire it had the added bonus of having the sea in the background. He looks like he's posing for a food., drink or clothes logo., Anyway the Easter upload
The Goldcrest and the Fircrest are Britains smallest birds.
I have small amounts iof Utterly Peanut Buttery smeared around various bits of wood. It's probably the most popular food I offer and birds quickly find any hidden spots. The Goldcrest can pick off the tiniest bits other birds leave behind.

Aren't these wings utterly gorgeous? The attention to detail is amazeballs (there, I said it) and there's so many combinations you can do with the excellent included hud. Although I normally skulk around the grid with more clothes, and yes, my toes need a trim, I had a blast putting this together and got some emoted 'swoons' sent my way too. I guess that's a result. Utterly unmistakable orange bird with a zebra-striped wings, a Chinese fan of a crest (usually held closed, but often raised just after landing), and a rapier of a bill. Favors semiopen habitats such as heathland, farmland, orchards, grassy lawns, where it feeds on the ground, probing with its long bill for insects. Flight fast and fairly direct, with rather deep wingbeats. Unlikely to be confused, but flight pattern and round wings may loosely resemble that of woodpeckers; note far longer and thinner bill. eBird

Decided to give Walton's new coat a bit of an airing to get rid of the moths accumulating in my inventory cave. His texturing of the wool is very nicely done considering the obvious limitations of pixels. I'm a history nerd so I appreciate the work he's put in to give it a correct overall feel of a gentleman's suit. At time of writing this coat is NOT available for Ladies, but I shall assume that its a wip and will eventually be so.

I'm not saying what I'm insisting on. But its nefarious.
Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Utterly pointless,” says the Teacher. “Absolutely pointless; everything is pointless.”
A month or so ago, I quoted some analysts saying that it won't last more than 3 months and now here we are, right at the endgame. As Graham E Fuller -- formerly vice-chair of the National Intelligence Council, former Station Chief in Kabul for the CIA -- put it succinctly in his blog on 16th this month :
" The final end of the government in Kxxx is at hand as the inexorable logic of regime collapse gains momentum. It seems more of a surprise to current policymakers than to those many observers with a long-time familiarity with the country’s dynamics. It will not be pleasant to watch, but it has long been inevitable given the utterly unrealistic ambitions and poor policy execution that Washxxx has maintained in Afgxxx. Unfortunately, those darker, but more insightful views on the entire enterprise have long been largely stifled by our media...
... it is the overall decline of Amxxx domestically and geopolitically that is the telltale sign of its deeper weakness; there is an increasing international belief that the UX is living inside a fantasy bubble of denial about maintaining its global hegemony. If the 20-year UX military presence in Afgxxx had actually ever shown any serious concrete advancement towards concrete goals, that would be one thing. But the neocons are ever content to throw good money after bad in the blind pursuit of hegemony — even in the very heart of “the graveyard of empires...
But Washxxx’s focus on Afgxxx in reality has had very little to do with establishing a better and more equitable society for the Afgxxx... "

On another occasion, I opined that ( amongst the Russian cellists ) " the audience have probably heard too much of Rostropovich, too little of Daniil Shafran, rarely of Knushevitsky, hardly of Yakov Slobodkin, mostly due to the monopoly of the media! Has it occured to them that the order should be the other way round ? " That is to say, if one is really looking for genuine artists and musicians instead of virtuoso, showmanship, dancing to the tune of propaganda narratives :

It is views like these that stir my soul and have me long to return to the utterly stunning island of Skye.
To me, Skye is the UK's Iceland. So full of mesmorising beauty and such a wide variety of subjects to capture on camera from waterfalls, hauntingly beautiful coastline, stunning lochs, black sandy volcanic beaches, dominating mountains, and even a coral beach (believe it or not but there's only the one on the island).
I defy anyone to spend five days on the island and not return home feeling like a part of them is missing having been left behind in Scotland. It affected me when I first visited Skye way back in 2008 and it still does regardless as to how many times I return. That's when you know you have not only witnessed a place but truly experienced it too.
Skye will forever be my favourite place in the UK to visit.

Utterly unique bird that makes up its own family. The plumage is uniformly gray in adults and brownish in immatures. Structure is stork-like overall, but with a thick neck and massive hooked bill. In flight, which is sometimes quite high, the long legs trail. Found in deep marshes, especially papyrus swamp. Usually alone or in pairs. (eBird)
We all piled into a dug-out canoe (with a small motor) and headed into the swamp in search of this legendary bird. And there it was. I don't think it moved the whole time we were there, though perhaps it blinked. We were thrilled with the experience.

Another beautiful bird that I have seen quite frequently. This was the first time, though, that I had seen it with the crest raised and so I quickly took three photos before it flew off again. Such a cool bird.

It is a real problem, is it not? How can we come to an understanding of this utterly diverse and complicated world whilst sitting in the particularity of our home? It is true that the media, from newspapers to TV and social media, offer us a daily digest of selected information. We would, I sincerely hope, critically examine these news and think for ourselves. However, even so, we would have to deal with the selective nature of the information. We never see "the whole picture". Our knowledge, even at the best of times, is necessarily fragmentary. It is absolutely important to be aware of this limitation - it is one of the virtues that make us human.
I am saying this because AI is on the march. AI has never ever left its ivory tower, it never "left home". It never made any experiences. AI has not seen anything. It does not know how to suffer. What it does is to harvest and (often illegally) exploit printed or published materials, information it has neither created nor even collected. It does not know what it does not know. And yet AI will come up with explanations and scenarios that are untroubled by any kind of self-doubt. AI does not know when it is peddling false information. AI will interpret the world whilst staying at its "home" and will not even be aware of it. Leica M8 plus Voigtlaender 35/1.4 at approx. F8.

In all of creation not much can compare to this beauty! If you gave a kid a crayon and asked them to dream up a mythical bird of prey and they came up with this you may well ask them to not to be so silly! But feast your eye's! It's real and utterly staggering!

Ardnamurchan is widely considered by many who visit it to be one of the most stunning natural parts of the Scottish coast.
It is beautiful, utterly wild and unspoilt.
These endangered birds are utterly beautiful. I had fun watching this female gather nesting material on a tour I led with Avocet Tours this past week. The Prothonotary Warbler is the only member of the genus Protonotaria and the only eastern warbler that nests in natural or artificial cavities. They often use cavities in trees made by Downy Woodpeckers. They are listed as endangered in Canada and nest in hardwood swamps in southeastern Ontario in Canada and the eastern US.
