Abstract:
Asphalt concrete is highly used for building highway or runway pavements, whose performances are not only governed by its components’ properties, but also impacted by loading and environmental conditions. Both traditional experimental and analytical methods have limited capability for studying fundamentals of asphalt concrete. With the rapid development of computational facilities, numerical methods become important and powerful tools for engineers and researchers. Discrete element method (DEM) is a numerical method which has been utilized for modeling asphalt concrete materials since 1993. The purpose of this poster is to present the authors’ research progress in DEM modeling for understanding fundamentals of asphalt concrete materials. In term of environmental or sustainability benefits, this research will ultimately result in longer-lasting roads by improving pavement and mixture design methods. Additionally, the research findings can be used for studying other anisotropic composite materials which have the similar microstructural features.

This event is presented in collaboration with heads of the Crown Heights community and Shemspeed, an independent recording label and artists' promotional agency based in Crown Heights. The event is sponsored by COLlive.com, one of the most prominent Chabad Hassidic media outlets providing constant up to date information about the movements worldwide news and initiatives and Marley Coffee, owned by Bob Marley's son, Rohan Marley helps promote and support environmental and social justice causes, including aiding Jamaica's poor communities and "going green."
COMMON EFFORT is a unique project in wich the cooperation between civilian and military organisations is taken to a higher level. The German and Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs, 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps and the German Bundespolizei are just a few of the participants that are pioneers in long-term coordinating of their activities and mutual understanding by using a fictional scenario.
What is artificial intelligence? And what do we actually know about human intelligence? How intelligent can artificial intelligence be in comparison? And more importantly: what effects will the advances in this field have on our society?
Artificial intelligence offers plenty of room for speculation about the future. What is certain is that this technology has already changed our everyday life in far-reaching ways and will continue to do so. We have already been supported by algorithms in a wide range of areas such as autonomous driving, security technology, marketing or social media for a long time. Artificial intelligence is even used to create works of art. But how many of our tasks do we want to outsource to machines? No other development in our time poses such a clear question about how we want to employ our technological means in a societal context.

My understanding is that is now known as Broadstone Plaza or the Broadstone Gate and the original plan is described below:
"The Broadstone Gate will provide a key access to the Grangegorman site once complete and is being developed as part of the Luas Cross City works. It will be finished as a public plaza and the access will provide a major linkage between Grangegorman and Dublin city."
"The plaza is situated off Constitution Hill on the site of the old royal canal at the former Great Weatern Railway Station commonly known as Broadstone, and will mark a prominent entrance to the Grangegorman urban quarter."
"Under the Grangegorman Masterplan, the primary urban path through Grangegorman – St Brendan’s Way will link with the Broadstone Gate which when completed will reach as far as Prussia Street. The link with Broadstone can also be seen as an extension to the 18th century historic spine of Dublin City which covered Dublin Castle across Grattan Bridge, along Capel Street/Bolton Street, Henrietta Street and King’s Inn."
The new pedestrian/cyclist link between Grangegorman and Constitution Hill was officially opened in November. This link in its current format is temporary until site development in that area is completed. The initial opening hours for the link are Monday – Friday, from 7am – 4pm and on Saturdays, from 7.30am – 2pm. I have been advised by the Grangegorman Development Agency that it intends to expand these opening hours soon.
As you can see from my photographs the Plaza Area is currently a building site but I am hoping that it will be complete within a few months.

Clearing out the loft today. Came across a binder full of these:
I had them at school, probably in my second year, which would be late 1967 or early 1968.
Beautiful. hand drawn artwork from before the age of Photoshop.
Packed full of explanations of all the basic scientific principles. I learnt an incredible amount from these.
LS cylinder heads were the most powerful and advanced cylinder heads introduced by General Motors. They were lightweight, made from aluminium, and designed to bolt up to LS engines. The power of these LS cylinder heads can be determined by the fact that they feature 259 CC intake and 102 CC exhaust runners. There were also 72 CC combustion chambers and 2.1 65" intake, and a 1.600" exhaust valve. The design is created in such a way that LS heads can assemble easily with valve springs, retainers, locks, guide plates, studs, and even seals. The outcome of this design was the benefits like economic availability yet maximum output. There were ported heads also mainly designed and produced in the form of fully assembled and heavy-duty components.
These LS cylinder heads are compatible with most of the LS series engines manufactured by General Motors, and one of them is the LS7 engine. This engine comes with some high-end engine specifications like –

Square Port
Cylinder heads and intake are manifold in this series
Intake valves are made up of titanium
1.8 ratio rockers are present
The camshaft has a really long-duration high lift
Deck plates are used for block machining performing to increase accuracy
The oiling system is of a really high capacity and dry sump
When all these features combine with the power of versatile LS heads, they can make an LS engine generate a whopping capacity of 7100 RPM.
How to Install LS Cylinder Heads?
The first recommendation here is to rely upon highly established car mechanics for the same. They will follow a step-by-step approach for the installation procedure and ensure that an oil and coolant leak situation does not occur. Here is the detail of the installation process followed for installing LS cylinder heads.
Step – 1
The first step is to press new dowel pins into the engine blocks. There are two dowel pins per side in holes 7 and 8. They have to align the head to the block and this has to be done without fail before installing cylinder heads. To align the dowel pins perfectly, the team might have to tap them gently with a hammer.
Step – 2
Step 2 will involve cleaning the deck surface and placing the head gasket on the block while making sure that the appropriate direction is chosen.
Step - 3
Again the deck surface of the LS head will have to be cleaned using a clean cloth and acetone, and then, the cylinder head is carefully placed on the head gasket.
Step - 4
Now it's time to install the bolt fingers really tight and when done, the task of LS 3 heads and LS1 heads installation is over.

Andy and Samson weren't friends at the beginning. Andy was insanely allergic, and therefore miserable 99% of the time he was around Samson. They were both complete assholes to each other for at least the first six months of living together. But at some point, I believe it was during some scary thunderstorms while I was away on business, Samson and Andy bonded. And they developed a mutual understanding. Samson lets Andy make him dance like a puppet, flip him upside down, and generally harrass him, as long as Andy continues to give him the best damn back scratches he's ever known. Andy finally adjusted to Samson, his allergies went away, and they're great friends now.

King knows their is something different going on in the pasture but he is not sure what it is. His mother is in season and a stallion has been placed in the pasture with him and his mother. Suzy was quite alarmed when she seen the stallion coming up behind me, I didn't realize that they can be quite dangerous when they are in this mood.
