Mahidol University in Thailand and the ILO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reaffirming their commitment to collaboration, knowledge-sharing and capacity-building in the pursuit of universal health and social protection in the region.
The agreement was signed by Prof Piyamitr Sritara, President of Mahidol University, and Ms Kaori Nakamura-Osaka, ILO's Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, at a ceremony to mark World Day of Social Justice 2025, held at Mahidol University on 6 February 2025.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. March 10, 2025 - Understanding the On-Site Solar Process through lessons learned with The City of Columbus

In 2024, the City of Columbus completed a ~30 MW solar project, one of the largest of its kind in the US. How can lessons learned help you with solar at your facility or on your projects?
The City of Columbus is pursuing municipal owned on-site renewable energy as part of its Climate Action Plan and its commitment to carbon neutrality. After studying the technical, economic, and regulatory feasibility of multiple projects, construction of a ~30 MW solar plant at the Parsons Water Plant finished in 2024. The City is now one step closer to its carbon goal and on-site solar will eventually be deployed at other sites! Like the City, facilities and organizations across Ohio and the nation are considering on-site renewable energy to hedge future energy costs, reduce carbon footprints, and to improve resiliency.
Unfortunately, many existing barriers across the technical, economic, and regulatory spaces prevent customers from receiving the full value of their investment or significantly limit a customer’s ability to install systems behind the meter. Also, it takes a lot of stakeholder engagement across many different departments within an organization to get decision makers comfortable with on-site solar and work together for multiple years to make the projects happen! Drawing from this highly visible case study and a dozen others, our team will introduce the audience to the critical elements of solar project feasibility, market engagement, and contract negotiations. We will inform and empower the audience to bring these lessons to their projects to advance the adoption of on-site solar energy across our state and region.

Four Freedoms Park Conservancy and the National Coalition Against Censorship hosted UNBANNED on Roosevelt Island with a large Banned Book Library installation from May 16 – June 2 and author events.
The Banned Book Library display was created by Lush Cosmetics in collaboration with the Zinn Education Project Teach Truth campaign for SXSW and has been adapted into a mini pop-up display used around the country. This curated collection features books and media that have been challenged or banned in schools, libraries, and communities across the country.
Visitors were encouraged to read, reflect, and engage with the stories behind each book’s censorship, gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural and political forces shaping what we’re allowed — or not allowed — to read.
The photos include the event on June 1 with acclaimed author and illustrator Mike Curato who read excerpts from his banned graphic novel Flamer — a deeply personal story of identity, self-discovery, and resilience.

Case 13: UNDERSTANDING GREEK VASES
In the first half of the eightenth century, scholars
and collectors explained ancient artefacts using information taken mostly from ancient texts. Close, first-hand examination of these objects would change such understanding.
This new Enlightenment approach led to the important discovery that large numbers of painted vases found in southern Italy were in fact ancient Greek. Among the first to recognise this fact was Sir William Hamilton, British ambassador to Naples. For hundreds of years, scholars had believed that the vases had been made by the Etruscans, the inhabitants of early central Italy. Hamilton, however; studied the inscriptions of his own collections of vases, and concluded that they were Greek.
Hamilton hired the French scholar Baron d'Hancarville to publish his first collection of vases, which came to the British Museum in 1772. He analysed their painting styles, tracing a progress of art which could be linked to a 'progress' of civilisation. The book, Etruscan, Greek and Roman Antiquities, was one of the most beautiful and influential publications of the eighteenth century.
CLASSIFYING THE WORLD
This central section of the exhibition explores how different collections formed during the course of the eighteenth century were arranged to gain knowledge about the world, past and present.
During the Enlightenment, many people believed that lack of social and moral progress stemmed from ignorance about the world, its natural phenomena and its human history. As a result they developed new systems of classification, which they used to organise and explain the world around them.
Some systems depended on establishing likenesses between objects and giving them names which reflected these similarities. Others were founded on beliefs of progress and decline. By adapting these systems to classify the artefacts of contemporary and ancient cultures, people were better able to interpret their vast collections and to share their findings.
