One of those moments went you realise the camera setting haved change taken at 1/30 second (I normally use between 1/160 to 1/250 for motorsports) makes it look fast, Not to take anything out of the driver of car 24, Who seem to me to be the fastest on the fast sections.

King of the Hammers #31
As you can see, I wasn't the only one out in the "boonies" taking photos. A few were near my position also. Only a few areas have a fence to show the drivers where the trail goes. This one being a big zigzag past me, and up another hill - see image #32, to see where they were heading to. Most of the course is marked with sticks with an arrow.

Rising Star -- 2014 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix
Loren Healy seemed unstoppable at the 2014 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix, in large part because he pretty much was, but in the 2 hours that made up the main race there was one single driver who stayed on his tail the entire time. Levi Shirley, pictured here nearing the end of the short course section toward the back of the race track, gives every race his 110% best. Couple this with more 2014 Ultra4 races under his belt than any other driver (Levi is competing in all East, West, a Euro Ultra4 races), two brand new Spider 9 powered IFS & solid axle machines (yes, he has two), and the never give up attitude that makes up his Lucky Dog Racing Team... and you get a force to be reckoned with.
We've been working with Levi and the Shirley family since the good ole XRRA days (2009 and earlier), and still have the video to prove, even then, just how capable a driver the young Levi Shirley was (and still is), bit.ly/1pdScFs . With plenty of seat time under his belt from both XRRA & Dirt Riot circuits, Levi officially joined the Ultra4 family this year and is now playing with the "big boys"... and so far so very good. Levi took top honors in Italy just a few weeks back, becoming the 1st US driver to win an Ultra4 European race. He finished last weekend just behind Loren, securing a 2nd place finish for Glen Helen which was the single largest race outside of King of the Hammers. Congrats Levi, it's always a pleasure watching you in your element.

These cars are available on a first-come, first-served basis to those drivers wishing to commit to 5 races in 2015, KOH Week, the Western Regional Series, and Nationals!
What You Get
A fully prepped spec car w/ a dedicated pit crew per car for each race of the 2015 ULTRA4 season. Races include: KOH Week Smittybilt Every Man Challenge, All Western Regional Races and the Nitto National Championship in Reno, NV.
KOH Week
The car will be exclusively yours during KOH Week. You have a spot in the Smittybilt Every Man Challenge, and if you wish to attempt the Last Chance Qualifier to earn a spot in King of The Hammers and qualify via LCQ you could race the car on Friday in the main KOH race as well!
Regional Series Races
Each regional race will have a purse of $20,000 for the spec class. Your car will be delivered on site with pit crew available and waiting for you at every race.
Rental Cost
$17,500 rental cost for the entire week plus entry fees*
$7,500 per Regional race plus entry fees*
Entry Fee Cost
$1850 per Spec class race (additional entry fees if attempting to qualify for King of The Hammers)
Additional Costs
USAC insurance, transponder rentals will also be required.

Well Ship the Bed, Chicky takes home 1st in Hot Springs!
Nothing like dialing in a new Ultra4 racer early in the year. Chicky Barton’s IFS debut race, the 2014 King of the Hammers, didn’t go exactly as planned. They almost never do, especially with a brand new build; the racing field always seems to provide ways of finding the small new car gremlins that, despite the very best efforts, always persist. With a small amount of down time between KOH and the Genright Ultra4s at Superlift, Chicky went straight to work, taking what he learned from KOH, removing those gremlins he found out in the desert, all to dial in his fastest car yet.
Well, this weekend was certainly testament to that. Without EVER letting up (seriously, pretty sure his foot never came off that throttle), Chicky commanded the field at Hot Springs. With 40 racers in total from east to west, it was the most challenging Ultra4s at Hot Springs race to date, so taking top honors was even sweeter than ever. Congrats Chicky, and his father for co-driving the entire time, it was a blast to see you back in action. As Chicky always says, Ship the Bed! Not exactly sure what that means… something to do with his co-owned mattress store? Doesn’t matter, Ship the Bed!
Before we wrap up, congrats to all 25 drivers who crossed the finish line, it was a tough race and it’s nice to see more than half the field make it to the end. We’ll post a few photos throughout the week, be sure to keep an eye out for them. Till next time!

And Just Like That, The Game Had Changed — 2014 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix
Enter the hot pit, where your best friends wait with fuel and tools in hand. Loren had zero mechanical issue, and a large enough fuel tank to likely pull off then entire 2 hr race, but being a new car with just about zero seat time, he and his team elected to re-fuel around lap count 11 (there would be 20 laps total). Take a look at the gent holding up the massive fuel container with the full headphones on, see him starring in the distance at a passing by vehicle (you should just catch to top lights of it, to the middle left side of the photo). That would be Levi Shirley, who at this very moment would officially be in 1st place.
Fun fact: Levi had no plan to pit, with enough fuel on hand he would continue the race from this point forward at his wicked fast non-stop pace. Glen Helen is not the easiest place to pass, I’d say it’s likely the hardest place to pass in the Ultra4 circuit, and Loren and his team knew this too. As soon as Loren was re-fueled (shortly after this photo, it was a Nascar fast pit stop), he entered back into the field and turned up the dial from 70 to 100%. Yes, Loren had been running around 70% the entire time, and now we would see just what miracle this new machine could pull off.
In that same lap, Loren would end up catching up to Levi (and JT Stevens) just past a zig zag section shortly before the start/finish line. He would pass both in one shot, gain a bit of distance, than turn the dial back to 70%. It was a very quick moment, and the only one that I witnessed, where Loren pushed his new machine to the limit. It was something to see in person, that’s all I can say.
