Started moving my development environment from Ubuntu running inside VMWare virtual machine to a physical (POS) PC. I started with Ubuntu Server edition but soon decided to go with Desktop edition to test some of the GUI-stuff, too.
It's only been a few hours with this machine and I've already had to twiddle with it more than I've ever had to with any of my Macs. Gotta just love these PC:s -- they truly are by the nerds, for the nerds :)
I wish someone would eventually make one for the rest of us, too.
Casi se me saltan las lagrimas al ver esta pancarta. Despues y esa misma noche, tambien un cartel de ubuntu en un bar de copas, solo que no tenia la camara para inmortalizar el momento.
Dapper sul portatilino. Installata non senza patimenti, ma sospetto che il colpevole sia il cd riscrivibile o il masterizzatore, perché non andava a termine causa pacchetti corrotti. Per fortuna l'installer debian (credo debian) ha in modalità avanzata una funzione di prelievo repository direttamente da iso.
Yesterday i tried Dapper on a newly created partition. It took me quite long, because the installer kept failing on corrupted packages. I suspect the cdrw for that. Anyway i managed a work-around using expert mode and activating the option for getting files from the iso. Then everything went quite smoothtly except the i810 driver in xorg not working (had to revert to vesa) and some minor quirks.

I have shown little tolerance for truffle abuse in the past. No, putting truffles in something doesn't make it automatically good. Yes, putting truffles in with a cream sauce can be considered cheating or lazy.
Neither of my nic-pick applies here. Simply delicious.

It works extremely nice :)
