The launcher is set to never hide and up in the right corner I've put a weather indicator and a system load indicator.

Estoy corriendo el LiveCD de Ubuntu en mi iBook, corre muy bien, reconoce todo. De todas maneras nica lo instalo, OS X es lejos mejor.
