Still was a fun time last 4th of July... you know, back before Boehner & Obama sequestered military jet demo teams. Sure brings back happy memories.

Sure was an awesome sight to see. For more photos of the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Airshow & Warrior Expo (JBLMAWE) as I develop: flic.kr/s/aHskFP6ZUh . Please check out the album for more event photos!

Not the best picture but the heat haze wasn't helping matters. That said, always a great treat to see a Boeing product in AFTERBURNER! Oh yeah baby!

Love me some US Navy Tac Demo enough to want to make sure another source of heat - namely the volcanic Mt. Baker - was in the background! You can just tell I love these guys!!

Thought I'd see how vapes looked in black & white. Hope folks approve.

Another greyscale of the mighty Boeing Defense F/A-18F Super Hornet turning in the sky for a JBLMAWE rehearsal. My kind of fighter plane!

Note the tailhook tucked in - that's common to most military fast aircraft as an emergency device. But for naval aviation, carrier aviation would be impossible without a tailhook because brakes alone just cannot stop an aircraft on a carrier deck fast enough. Of course, enjoy the look into the burner cans too!

Many more Super Hornet pics here.

Really appreciate the unique view of the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

Always going for the "hero" shot as the performer taxis by...

Sure was a great Tacoma Freedom Fair airshow :-)!

Last year, I got to get up close & personal with a VFA-122 F/A-18F and got to look up the burner can. Here's one of those pics... finally an appropriate time to share. So when you see those afterburners, just think of all that heat swirling around all these metal & ceramics.

Figure I'd share from the Tacoma Freedom Fair this Super Hornet Tac Demo picture tonight...

Looks like a sharp, winged fighter jet, eh? Love this jet!

I rather like this image leaving in so much blue sky for two reasons:

1) The Super Hornet didn't exactly fill the frame of the original.

2) I like the "white space" showing a Super Hornet reaching for the heavens. You?

The Tac Demo rolling over and pulling in the gear to show the incredible capability of the Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet. Enjoy the detail of the Super Hornet's underbelly.

Just your typical US Navy Tac Demo at play for the kids - and the kids at heart!

Next week, an airshow for adults - Props and Ponies at HFM in Bellingham. Lots and lots of propeller planes... that go fast!

Pulling up so high the Leading Edge Extension - LERX - has vapes over it! WOW!

Folks, I've got this wonderful US Navy Tac Demo photo up on Fine Art America at goo.gl/4zYqJu . Please if you like this image, consider placing it on a print or a bag or a notebook or a phone or more. Thanks.

I am very happy I got to see a Navy Tac Demo in sunset. Very awesome.

I've got over 200 photos of Boeing Super Hornets up at flic.kr/s/aHsjvQ8cx7 going back before I got a DSLR back in 2011 progressing to today - please feel free to browse.

The US Navy TAC Demo team sporting their special VFA-15 "Valions" paint scheme representing the A-7 Corsair they flew in the late 1960's. The team flew the demo for the first time in 2017 at the Tico Warbird Air Show in Titusville, FL.

Don't worry, the Super Hornet has excellent pitch-up capabilities!

The alpha was so high the leading edge extension was fully extended.

One of the cool things of the US Navy Tac Demo is the mixture of afterburners + vapor trails. Just exciting!
