It's been one of those days, so out came the black paper and I set up my 'desktop studio' and got out the extension tubes, flash and tripod and played around with some macro shots.

Love this Canon SD400, but controlling focus and depth of field on the thing is a bear. This pic makes for an interesting wallpaper.
As i wanted to focus more on the iris part of the eye, I decided to experiment with an USB micro camera.
I was able to capture closer images of the area that i wanted yet was still unhappy with my results as the camera is not very good quality and i would prefer to take a photo with high quality.
Also, I would have preferred it if my photographs had been taken in natural light to prevent any glares and added colouring due to classroom lighting. This was unable to happen.
As the camera had to be so close to the eye, reflections that were not wanted were also photographed.

Free samples from ADI of their isolated 485 transceiver led to this board. MCU is ATMega8u2 and LUFA provides USB support. The isolated power supply is implemented with a MAX253 and external power transformer. Just a few months later ADI released a series of the same chip with isolated power converter integrated into the chip. :(
