Colorado State University’s School of the Arts presents Paradise Lost by Erin Shields: An adaptation of John Milton’s tale. April 24, 2025
Fiona Soh, Year 3 School of Economics Student “It took me a while to get used to juggling my time between school and Ellysage - an online business that I started back in 2011 - but I've learnt that time sorts itself out when you get your priorities right. When you get your priorities right, you make no excuses. Of course, having a passion for both school and work helped. I remember that I only landed at about 6 or 7 in the morning after a few of my sourcing trips, and by 8.30am, I was seated in class, ready for a long day of school. In my opinion, the biggest misconception that people have had about the blogshop industry is that managing a blogshop is a lot of fun, and that the work seems easy. People envy me for travelling a lot and not having fixed working hours, but they have not seen me working behind the scenes - juggling my time between classes, projects, exams, and a neverending inbox full of customer queries. It takes a lot of time, effort and most importantly, passion to achieve the goals that I have laid out for myself. SMU has stretched my limits, with its demanding workload on top of my work commitments. But if it wasn’t for all the opportunities that SMU gave me, I wouldn’t have discovered my true capacity. In addition, SMU Ventures has opened doors for me to learn from fellow entrepreneurs. As a member of SMU Ventures and its president, I’ve widened my network significantly while exchanging stories with other entrepreneurs. Furthermore, having been to Taiwan for a Business Study Mission gave me an insider’s look at various successful start-ups and corporations in Taiwan. Seeing all these companies who have succeeded makes me even more determined to grow Ellysage in Singapore!”
