A two hour journey in a Mokoro (traditional canoe) was our form of transport to and from our campsite in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. It wasn't the most steady boat and we were constantly going through the middle of the plants. Very relaxing and unique way of traveling however.

During Lockdown 2.0, I went everyday before work on the same spot, on the same beach. Here's a small selection of images I took.

Heading out to the Peak District (rather late) I diverted up to Biddulph Moor to catch the sunrise as it came over the hill. Definitely a bright start to the day!

AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL - Exactly The two gigantic lamps that appear between lampposts on the Golden Bend are a wonderful sight. Jeroen Henneman created 'Two Lamps' specifically for this beautiful part of the canal; it’s where the wealthiest people in Amsterdam once lived and where lawyers, bankers and insurance advisors now work.
two under the counter lights with white fluorescent bulbs that have serious color issues. and now i know why i look like pure hell under these type of lights.

Based on my observations of newt behavior and the time of year, I believe this is a male checking out a female.

It took the damselfly about 5 minutes to shed its skin and emerge into its final form. The stubby wings take another 10 mins or so to inflate and the damselfly will rest for a few more minutes before taking its first feeble flight. At this stage, it is very vulnerable to birds and was hiding deep in the foliage. Over the next few days it will develop its colours. Having spent a year or two underwater growing from a deposited egg, it will only live a few weeks as an adult. hopefully surviving long enough to breed. The empty skin shell is called an exuvium. Hundreds of exuvia were visible in the reed beds.
