I relaxed a little last evening by playing about with PicMonkey, the editing programme devised by some ex-Picnikers.
What a great shame Flickr chose to go with Aviary and not invite the PicMonkey crew on board.
Their editing programme is developing daily, and is a wonderful tool for editing and creating images

I have a pbase site with a lot of galleries but recently I wrote some FREE tutorials to help people learn to use Paint Shop Pro and also some techniques usable by other programs as well. These are all free and super easy, lots of photos to help explain things. Hope you have fun!
I made this simple tutorial (originally in Swedish, but I will explain as well as I can in english) because my friends asked me how I reroot my dolls. It is so much fun and not hard at all! :) This version is shorter than the original one since I am posting it on Flickr. This is Estelle, she is a Princess Barbie who came to me with a bad haircut. I use Retrodolls hair (I have actually started to sell this hair myself at retrodollseurope.com and you can buy it from my friends at the US, UK and Australia sites as well) ; it comes in lenghts of about 95 centimeters so you can give your dolls as long hair as you want! I will use Fire Red Saran for this girl but I often use other kinds of hair as well, you can also use hair from a wig or reuse hair from another doll if you want :).

I figured I would share this new technique I have been messing with in photoshop. I love HDR, even the overly processed ones, there is a place for them too. I was messing around in photoshop and I created a very simple HDR like effect.
Here is the simple tutorial, I also have made an action for it if anyone is interested in it.
BTW, Using PSCS3
Step 1: First open the photo you wish to work with. Then select IMAGE> ADJUSTMENTS> AUTO LEVELS. Now make a copy of the original picture. The bottom layer will be called "background", then "background copy" on top of that.
Step 2: With "background copy" selected go to Layer> New Adjustment layer> Black & White> Infrared. Set layer blend mode to MULTIPLY and then hit ctrl+e to merge it down. Now, make a copy of this layer (it will be named "background layer copy 2")
Step 3: Select the top layer "background layer copy 2" and change the blend mode to "Color Dodge", set the opacity to 50% or whatever looks best to you and then hit ctrl+e to merge it down
That's it!
It works well on some images but not all images.
