well, in honor of turning 29 i made this.
shot at f.13 on bulb iso 400.
i made the room dark and then using gel filters for my flashes, i covered a flashlight to paint the 'fireworks' and '29!'
i then had a 580 camera right hooked up to a cactus wizard. i held the trigger in my hand and pressed it when i jumped.
i think i threw out my hip and back since im so old :-P
hope you all enjoy - im glad i can share this and all my other photographs with you.
My friend V took this one on a very special trip. This trip has been the turning point after a long time struggling with creativity.

Turning around in the other direction, i can see down to Lovett Bay and across to the Northern Beaches suburbs. On the other side of those hills, is the ocean.
There's a trail (though it looks more like a wallaby track) on the far side of the this pool area that is supposed to get me down to the next lower level of the watercourse.
There was this place where the whole ground was completely covered with tiny metal turnings. I looked kind but the light was already fading. I still tried to get it on film. This is the result.

Before our glacial nights
where we slipped
over and away from each other
at indeterminate speeds,
and somewhere between those icy sheets
of your attic room,
you and I loved.
Long before the pain took hold
and pinned you beneath ghostly covers
as it had your mother,
we would hold each other and watch planes
turn tight circles,dipping below
the dry hills;
we kissed
like children would in those moments,
without fear of inhibition or loss,
our future stretching beyond
the sloping roof and shadowless walls
of the afternoon.
Yet out of the stillness you fell
like a heart-wounded songbird,
the poetry of your song silenced
beneath untied gowns and nights
of yellow morphine;
how your body
became a temple of sinuous tensions
and discreet chemical attacks,
your face beaded achingly
by each uninvited onslaught.
If I could,
I would tell you how each night
I turn to face your ghost,
beautiful yet strange
within my darkness,
as my lips mouth a prayer
but you,
unable to forgive.
These leaves were all alone, growing out of the side of the trunk of a tree. . .dogwood if I remember correctly. Tater Knob Fire Tower, Daniel Boone National Forest

In this shot of the Lighthouse in New Brighton the tide has turned and started to come back in, leaving the base of the lighthouse with water on all sides of it.
